CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What if there isn't really a problem, it's all a natural cycle? Then there is no need to fix anything. What will all the panic "pseudo scientists" say when the temperatures in the next 30 years show a cooling trend? Will Y'all get your money back that was spent on spin and hyperbole?If there's a problem let's fix it. How hard can that be?

First of all, what if it is a big hoax? Then the world will be fine anyway. That's what hoax's do, give untruthful information in order to cause action that is not necessary in order to create a profit for someone somewhere or cause a common believe in order to motivate the public into action that is not beneficial to them but extremely beneficial to a smaller group.
As for the first item on the list in that cartoon "Energy Independence". Seems that this is not being explored or encouraged unless it is inefficient solar and wind devices. Why not open it to all the devices that are possible?
From the time of Nicola Tesla, any energy source that cannot be regulated, sold for profit, taxed or used to gouge the public has been discouraged.

Anyone who develops a method of cheap or alternatively more economical energy faces enormous obstacles and will most often be called a liar or the dreaded "hoax".
Seems like the number of Hoax's is on an astronomical increase when it comes to going against any of the gold standards in government, economics, science, evolution, or religion....
Do you trust the government? Why then do you trust any organization that realize on them for funding? Then ask, who controls the government? Who can you believe, What information can you trust? Who knows.

The difference is that we can distinguish between naturally occurring atmospheric CO2 and that being introduced by fossil fuel emissions. The process is natural, what is pushing the natural process is not.
What you are calling pseudo scientists is almost every scientist on the planet. Conversely, almost all of the climate change denial is from non climate scientist sources, rather mostly political. That should tell you something there. Furthermore, if you want to show climate change is not happening, how about showing where the science showing it happening is wrong?

I'm not arguing that you can or cannot distinguish between naturally occurring or man made CO2 emissions. I'm saying that they are not contributing to an alteration in the massive weather control system of this earth.
There is only one source of heat for this earth... the sun. The oceans are the massive media which holds heat from the sun or loses it to the atmosphere. You want to know what is happening with the climate? Watch the temperature of the oceans and the amount of solar heat we get.
The increase in CO2 cannot affect this huge climate control giant of tonnes and tonnes of water in the oceans and lakes that cover the vast majority of this earth which collect and store the suns energy.
As I have said before, truth is not a democracy. If every scientist on the earth, except one, believes something and swears it is true while the one lowly scientist is in disagreement....the truth will be the truth even if it is the one lowly scientist who is correct.
As for who I believe..... I certainly have to question the hive mind who is subsidized and funded by the powers that be for they will most certainly not bite the hand that feeds them. I have lost trust in the "peer review" system and the integrity of the scientific community.
As for proving who is right..... just sit back and watch as we go from a time of much solar energy to that of less. Then you will see the cyclic phenomena cause the hive mind to get out their scratch pads in order to try to explain how they were right all along but have some wacky explanation as to how the civilizations of all government control pay more money to fund some other summit meeting to gouge us into spending our money to "again" save the world from us........
I have no worries about New York flooding any more than I did in the 70's of an ice age coming. The people who deem them selves to be such geniuses and the elite minds will run too and fro as they try to control an uncontrollable earth.
Satan runs the weather and God allows or doesn't allow him to do what he wants to do.
Man couldn't warm this planet, or cool it, if they wanted to.

Climate change IS and that is all there is to it. God is watching and in control. Only what He allows to happen will happen. There will be times of warming and times of cooling. The human race is arrogant to believe they can do anything to alter what God created.Perhaps climate change, like racism, is a problem with no solution.

Satan does not run the weather. Natural processes, that are becoming increasingly well understood and predictable, run the weather. We no longer live in an era when we need to resort to gods and demons to explain everything.

We've already altered what God created. Pollution is an actual thing. How many species have we caused to go extinct? We've destroyed forest, corrupted ecosystems. Humans change God's creation all the time.

When you're desperate for anything to support your biases, you cling to silly stuff. One of the usual suspects the other day was trying to pass off maps demonstrating continental drift over the past several million years as evidence against ACC. They're desperate. Anyone legitimately skeptical has long since been convinced by the science. All those still arguing against it are true believers who will presumably continue to make silly nonsense claims that there's nothing wrong even as the waves rise over their beachfront property and the extreme weather events destroy their inland property.
It's like creationists and people claiming smoking isn't proven to cause lung cancer. It's irrational. I have no doubt that some of the Usual Suspects would argue about it with God Himself. Many Catholics of that ilk, who previously demanded the Pope be the final authority have suddenly adopted a "well that's just, like, your opinion, man" attitude now he's come out calling for climate action.

The data shows we are.
Total solar irradiation (TSI) has decreased over the past 40 years while while ocean heat content has increased significantly. It's not the sun causing the "additional" warming.
Then why is the ocean heat content increasing? Also, much of the CO2 is going to the oceans which not only absorbs heat, but acidifies it as well.
The 1970s is when I was doing my graduate work in Earth Science, a full 1/3 of which was climatology. The scientific literature was not saying there was an ice age coming then.
Then what is warming it?

I would look to ocean warming as a better indicator of global warming than air temps. Air temps can vary considerably either way but if ocean temps are steadily rising we're might indeed be in trouble.The planet has basically flat-lined on warming since 2001.
