A few years ago, my brother, sister-in-law and I were walking along the UW campus when we were approached by 3 young adults that ask this question "Do you know the Ten comandments?"...We started and together we recited all ten of them....I don't remember exactly if they were surprised or glad but I don't know either if they had anything else to say or if they said (maybe they assumed that we might be Christians because we knew the 10 )...We didn't shoo them away like maybe others have we were nice and maybe lucky because we knew...

How real is the War on Christmas??? I mean is it a BIG deal if a tree is called a holiday tree or Christmas tree??? It was big enough that Texas pass a bill making it legal to say merry Christmas in response problem...to the holiday tree

Removing the nativity scene there's the problem..It celebrates what Christmas is...Although Jesus wasn't born exactly on Dec. 25 doesn't negate the point....

I think the people who are the most anti-Christmas are some of the Christians I've seen here at CF. They take Alexander Hislop and Jack Chick and run with it. Everything is pagan to them and they revel in historical revisionism. I'd say the so-called war on Christmas is an urban legend. People make mountains out of molehills. Atheists, agnostics, and lots of people have Christmas get-togethers with family and Christmas trees- they just don't have the religious aspect and go to church to celebrate liturgy. With nativity scenes- it's more an issue of the separation of church and state- and not one of being anti-religious.

I feel blessed that I didn't know there was 'a war on Christmas'; I just bypass a lot of what passes for news, I suppose. But I can jump in here, I think, and say that Christ's Mass, Christmas, to me, is for celebrating God entering as the Son, and really getting into the spirit of that is precious--that is the word that came to mind, so why censor it, eh? God gave us His only begotten Son as a Gift, and with that in mind, I now try to give something to others at Christmas.

Last year I loom-knitted 150 hats (my husband says it was that number) for homeless woman.

My husband, a co-worker, and the co-worker's two daughters, Davianna (who was going on 5) and Carissa (who was 3 and a half) helped them the first time (I was not able to go), and that was Thanksgiving; then I went with my husband, his co-worker and Davi(anna) around Dec 23rd and hand-choice or helped each woman hand-choose her hat.

I had individual file-transfer boxes marked small, medium, large and extra-large, and inside were a variety of hats, you know, like sports team color (Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, L.A. Lakers, and so on) as well as great combos like lilac and white or funky yellow/green/red I called different things like One Love, and black/red, blue/cream...

We gave out 75 for Christmas.

I've got maybe 32 made so far for these coming Christmas; may go to the homeless women shelter, but the church we now attend is ministering to women who are recovering from addiction and are new Christians so we'll see:

As long as we give in Christ's name, it'll be living 'All things work for good...' (Romans 8:28) or as a friend of mine from Gary, Indiana used to say, it'll be 'right on time'.
