  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yah, I think I need to give more to GOD and less to myself. My problem is always trusting GOD, I seem to have a huge trust issue with everything.

God bless you.
Your right on there Marmaladegirl22. Get your thoughts of of yourself and put them on God.

Sympathizing with yourself, feeling that you are not esteemed as you should be, if you allow your mind to be occupied with these things, the enemy will see that you are kept busy.

God would have you trust in His love, and be constantly guarding your soul by locking the gate of your thoughts. A wise heart, molded by the Holy Spirit, it is your privilege to have; and this is the foundation of all true happiness. Whatever others may think of us or may do to us, it need not disturb this oneness with Christ, this fellowship of the Spirit. You know we cannot find rest anywhere out of Christ.

Instead of looking at your face and body, look into things that matter. Who you are as a person other than how you look. Everyone is beautiful in different ways and you just need to let that inner you shine. Don't let people judge you because of the way you look, and don't judge them of course as well. Jesus is more your soulmate than anyone on earth. He always knows how you feel inside, so do not give up hope.

I agree 100% with this, anytime we indulge in "self-pity" we are focusing wholly on ourselves and it is a tool of the devil,do not use his tool to self-destruct! That is being "self-centered",instead of "God-centered" and faithless,as well.

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Your right, I feel I been focusing too much on myself and not others.

God bless you.

Well sis,I also agree 100% with the suggestion Pdudgeon gave you,to start a "blessings journal",and write down everytime God came through for you or anyone close to you, or even awesome testimonies that you heard that touched you, because it showed how awesome God is. It is handy to have such a journal we can hold in our hands and refresh our mememory so easily with. Believe me when you get into praising and worshipping God you forget all about yourself. Get into alone time with Him,just you and God,to meditate on Him,talk to Him,pour out your heart to Him and ask Him to help you stop focusing on yourself and to fill you with love for Him and He will gladly help you. If you have negative people in your life who focus on themselves or the negatives in life,I would either try to avoid them until you are stronger in your walk or pray, pray, pray for God to help you that they no longer have any influence over you at all. Ask God to fill you with His joy and peace that passes all understanding, and I will be praying the same for you sis,so you can be FREE! Remember "He that is in you,is stronger than he that is in the world"! God Bless You!:prayer: :prayer: :prayer: :groupray: :groupray: :groupray:       :)

I agree that we should all look at the inner-beauty and not concentrate so much on ourselves...however..I also don't believe in the "just be happy with yourself no matter what..it is who you are" in terms of looks. What I mean is...if someone is a little verweight...don't be content that way...do something about it. Work out, etc...

Basically what i'm saying is...treat your body as a temple...but don't be run by it. The inside is what matters most..but it's not an excuse to ignore the outside. :)

Thank you soblessed for your kind words, and the other people do.

I do treat my body like a temple I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I just feel so much pressure to look good because of the media. Everywhere you go it's about looking good, I can't even read a magazine without hearing how to look better and how you can change yourself.

Isn't there a prayer asking for courage to change what we can, accept what we cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference?

Wow,I guess I just cannot relate to that outlook at all, because I always knew and accepted that I would never be one of those "model types", so I just made up my mind to just be the best"me" I could, and I don't pay a bit of attention to media hype, even less after finding out that such a VAST number of these women are fake in every way, even their lips, for pity's sake! That would be absolutely hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic.

We should focus on Jesus and start thanking Him for all His blessings:prayer: ... because we sure have much to be thankful for, - the list would be very long ...

THAT is a very good medicine against being self-focused and dissatisfied with how we look, what we think we miss in life etc. Just wanted to mention it.

... removing mean statement...

I remember when I was young the magazines like Glamour (which was really a rather nice magazine then - no sexual position advice! :D ) would have articles with photos of famous gorgeous models (they really were pretty way back then, not like today's drug addicted anorexics) without their makeup! And they look just like you described yourself, marmalade! Pale, non-descript, etc. Another thing, the models didn't take themselves so seriously back then - they had fans but none that turned them into the second coming or anything. :)

I'll part with this verse about the most beautiful man ever to put feet on this earth:

ISA 53:2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

ISA 53:3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

No, our King of Kings and Lord of Lords had beauty on the inside, not the outside!

We should not call anybody ''losers'' in this Deeper Fellowship, so please do not use such words or put a stigma on people so easily, thank you. My heart just goes out to those who are lost. :prayer: Jesus, I thank You that You died for us all. Without You, we are totally lost.

Wonderful post! I think everyone has something beautiful about them, some people choose not to show it.

I don't really feel pretty, I feel so bad about my looks I get very jealous of girls much more beautiful then me. I cry and get depressed everytime I see a pretty girl and wish I looked like them, even on here I get upset about how some girls are just much more beautiful then me. I want to look like them so bad, it really hurts deep down that I'm not pretty enough for people. I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I feel I'm not beautiful enough for anyone even my soulmate GOD has ready for me. Sorry for all the typos but I was really upset when I wrote this.

Oh, Marmaladegirl!! Don't EVER think that!! You are very beautiful!! God made you to fit His perfect purpose, and He thinks that you are gorgeous, inside and out!! And don't worry about your soulmate...if he really IS your soulmate, he'll think you the most WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, and LOVELY girl he has ever met. Here's one of my favorite songs, maybe it'll help...

"I can see the tears filling your eyes
And I know where they’re coming from
They’re coming from a heart that’s broken in two
By what you don’t see
The person in the mirror
Doesn’t look like the magazine
Oh but when I look at you it’s clear to me that

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it’s true
You’re a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you’re covered with the fingerprints of god

Never has there been and never again
Will there be another you
Fashioned by God’s hand
And perfectly planned
To be just who you are
And what he’s been creating
Since the first beat of your heart
Is a living breathing priceless work of art and

Just look at you
You’re a wonder in the making
Oh and God’s not through no
In fact he’s just getting started and

(by Steven Curtis Chapman)

luv ya girl!!
