Katharyn Ilraemi Iuliano was having a beautiful day. The sun was out, shining on the sodden red brick town of Oxford, Ohio. Every drop of dew caught the sunlight in a little gleaming jewl of brilliance; the breeze played with the leaves scattered about on the cobblestone road.
Oxford used to be completely cobblestone when MU Ohio had first been built, but because the university drew so many students, the town had expanded too quickly for the cobblestones to keep up. Now they remained only in the oldest parts of Oxford.
" 'Raemi, have you seen my new blouse?" came the pleading voice from behind a pile of newly bought clothes that obscured the speaker. Raemi moaned and draped herself over the ottomon.
"It's over the lampstand," she replied.

The disheveled form of Istra Lavanya appeared through the gloom. She gave Katharyn a doubtful prod, then moaned, "You're on top of my jeans, you great lump!" She brushed the crumpled treasure with her dark hand and grinned at Thynn. "C'mon, time to get up and moving. Italians are always lazy, so they say."
"And Kenyans are always sdrawkcab."
"'Sdrawkcab? What kind of lobster is that?"
They shared a laugh and a quick breakfast of milo and toast. Then Istra grabbed her car keys and Thynn hers, and they parted with the words, "See you at five," and "Bring some garlic bread home at supper."
Katharyn was off in her little car, zipping to morning classes. She looked at the schedule again. "BMZ, she mused." Biology, microbiology and zoology.
