As a child of the '60s who attended a Quaker college, I can tell you that,yes, it's wrong. Not only does it get between you and God - and anything that does that is sin - but smoking really does make you feel like a dope. You do worse, not better.

I smoke pot occasionally. When I was in college I smoked quite a bit at times. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA.

I think it's a personal choice. I have plenty of friends who smoke occasionally, and they're all pretty smart. You should make up your own mind about it.

A lot of people can't do it with a clear conscience or a pure conviction, and some can. Those who can't, obviously shouldn't.

I used to do it against my own conviciton, it was pretty tiring trying to justify it all the time. Now I'v changed my mind - I've stopped judging myself at large - and consider myself 100% free to do it if I want to. But I rarely want to anymore, and when I do, I usually decide not to. As a former drug addict, I can say that this is something God has done in my heart.

It's not good to divide your life, world and mind into sin/allowed or legal/illegal. Instead you should be focused on what's beneficial.

I keep seeing the law being thrown around to say weed is bad. This is not a matter of mortal law this is about if it will hinder our relationship with God. I feel the key word is MODERATION. This goes with anything not just weed but also with drinking, smoking tobacco, and eating. If you let it get in the way of your relationship with God then it is wrong. Weed has been used for medicine long before we learned its effects on glaucoma. There are those who smoke it thinking it will get them closer to God, this is wrong. If used as you would tobacco, drinking, or eating food; in a responsible matter and not forgetting MODERATION, then there should be no problem. Put nothing between you and God, this is the key. I hope I shed some light on this.

I have a very close friend that smokes weed in great moderation, not to "help his school work" but because he suffers from extreme spasticity.
It startled me at first to learn this, he is in constant pain, continual spasms.
He will "hit" his weed 2 or 3 times and put it out, it helps his mobility, relaxes his muscles, and elevates his mood slightly.
It doesnt have the side effects of muscle relaxers, or opoid pain meds, though still severely disabled by his condition he is "functional"
Could one explain to him, "even if you hurt without it, to be a christian you MUST quit" ?
If, big if...... he cast it aside (on my advice) and the pain became to much to bear would he consider himself "lost" by attempting to relieve that pain ?
There are (IMHO) areas that are between a man, and his God.
An area that should not be explored by another that doesnt live the situation.
He is VERY discreet concerning this, if it harms anyone it would be only himself.
Very good question that many people wonder about the answer.

On this I agree 100%, whether it be this subject, tv, friends, ect. if it gets between you, and the Lord..... its sin.

No need to pray--the Word is clear--obey the governing authoritys (Romans 13). Weed is illegal in the U.S., so don't go there. If you live in a country where it is legal, how is your church fellowship approaching this. Sometimes, even if there is no specific prohibition in Scripture, churches have come to a community consensus. For example, in my fellowship we don't drink. So, I don't drink.

In my opinion God created us perfectly the way he intended, our job is to keep our body in the right conndition so we can glorify him with it. I do not think one is able to glorify God by doing Drugs.

19:Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?

I smoked weed constantly for 18 years. I quit 8 years ago because my job required random testing. I learned much during those 18 years, And the most significent thing I learned is that it stunts your learning capability. It really does. As for what God thinks about it, I asked him last year. I was going some really hard emotional trials and knew that weed would help. So, I asked him. Here is what he told me. As long as it did not lead me or take me away from him, he didn't have a problem with it. In my case it would have, so I elected not to do it.

would also have to add that more than likely if your having to ask yourself it is ok to do something than that means a line is probably about to be crossed that shouldn't. Most of us know instinctively the difference between right and wrong but doubt ourselves because for obvious reasons.

Although I know weed is "natural" I believe there is a purpose for it that should only be used by prescription. Just like cocaine - what do you think they use for extreme nose bleeds in an emergency room? But is it right to use it daily? Nope!

I saw 2 posts that I thought had good comments, if you have to ASK someone if it's wrong, you've most likely answered your own question.

In my own Christian life, I've noticed that God slowly works on us over time. You might not be convicted about something for a long time, then BOOOOOOM, you dont' feel right doing it anymore.
That's how He is with me.

And this post that mentions Civil law that we're called to obey by God. Romans 13.
We can't break the law with drug use then try to witness about God to the one's arresting us.

Also, the Bible does tell us not to use drugs - the Greek word is Pharmakeia.
Sorry I don't have time to hunt the info down for you but my Strongs Concordance offers: 'medication'/pharmacy, magic, sorcery, witchcraft' from root word: druggist, poisoner, magician'.

Try a web search on pharmakeia, I pulled up alot of info with it.

One last note, I also agree w/ another post, it's NOT healthy or good for you, and it DOES stunt your learning ability.
