  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The events happened as they were described. But know the flood is not a story about the logistics of building a ship, how to water proof it, how to locate and document animals, how to feed them and keep them alive. Why? Because it is a story about the amount of Faith it took to preserve Humanity from the coming flood. It is also a story on how God used Noah's token of faith to perform all of those things and how He sustained this last remnant of creation, as His righteous wrath reset the balance of power in this world.

The Story of Noah is the Story of how God save this world through the faith of one man and his family. Not the actual work and efforts of those people.

The interesting fact concerning the fossil record is that 98% of all the species that ever lived are now extinct. [Go ahead look this up]

Why would God create animals and then kill them all? Can't God protect the animals he created from extinction?

Why would God be required to keep them all alive?

What if those animals who died out simply served a purpose while they lived and when they no longer served that purpose they were allowed to die?

What if they were simply the best form of matter or supported the best form of life/organic matter that would eventually break down and form the vast oil deposits that his purposed creation was to use as an energy resource?

Bottom line we were created in His image and they were not. Their purpose was to serve and support Man even if it was just to live for a span and then break down and form the oil we use to subdue this world.

IMO the Noah story, which goes all the way to the end of chapter 9, is fundamentally scripture's answer to the question still common in our day "if god is so powerful why doesn't he just wipe put evil?"
