  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“I believe the Bible is adequately clear about how God created the world, and that its most natural reading points to a six-day creation that included not just the animal and plant species but the earth itself."
.

If the Bible were even remotely clear, there wouldn't be over 30,000 different sects.

Funny how the Chinese were around way before the mythical flood supposedly occurred.

That would make them "mythical" too, wouldn't it?

Why?

How many "sects" are there in our government, interpreting our Constitution?

Why did Noah require a dove to find land (Genesis 8) if he and God were on speaking terms in Genesis 6?

I give up ... why?

How do you know that God didn't tell him to send out a dove?

Much of the biblical flood story was actually plagiarized from "The Epic of Gilgamesh," the mythical Sumerian account of Ut-Napishtim written on stone tablets around 2000 BC. In "The Epic of Gilgamesh, one righteous man was spared from a worldwide flood by building a large boat with a single door and one window. The ark contained a few other human beings plus plant and animal specimens. Rains covered the mountains with water. Birds were sent to find land. The boat landed on a mountain in the middle east. Ut-Napshtim sacrificed an animal as an offering, and the Babylonian gods expressed regret for flooding the earth. Sound familiar?

Funny how there was no Babel until Noah's great grandson.

Here is one of my all-time favorite sites: The Sixteen Grandsons of Noah.

Actually, Noah first sent a raven.

Just remember "oldest text" does not mean first text. Neither does it mean "original happenstance."

Hebrew was an oral tradition in the antediluvian world. They were discouraged from being part of "the world," like Sumer, Lemuria, "Atlantis," Babylon and Phoenicia. Their practices were not about record-keeping with artifacts/"pen and paper," writing, etc. It was an oral tradition (this is why so many "spirituals" summarize a lot of prophecy.) There was no secret of God's plans; He let Adam, Eve, Cain, and the Serpent know that there would be a separation of bloodlines for purity to bring about a Messiah (Genesis 3:15.) Not to mention the entire sky was mapped with His plan of salvation (legitimate almanac astronomy became polluted into divination/astrology.) This is why a lot of nations capitalized on (given the events of Genesis 6) extolling "'men' of renown" as fake prophetic messiahs. Hercules, Osiris, Nimrod, Zeus, Prometheus, etc. There was plenty of political and theological hegemony to try to make each respective religion the "dominant religion" of the region and then world. (Think the movie Babylon A.D.) It's the same stuff today; caricatures of Messiah are being put on pedestals so that eventually the ultimate caricature (antichrist) will be worshiped. And, he will be worshiped by many (no matter how much you think you are spiritually independent right now.)

So, once again, the "oldest found record" does not connote the "oldest record in general."

Ah, yes. This lie again.
You'll note that these two stories are very similar, though different. The first was written by stories handed down generation to generation since the flood. Every major culture has a flood story and they share many of the same details. However, God gave Noah the true story, which he recorded in Genesis. Genesis was written much later, by a well educated man who wrote it with the inspiration of God.

It's really amazing how many people can't grasp the stunningly obvious; that any such event would be passed down through the generations; that Moses lived LONG after the Great Flood; and that accounts of actual events recorded by different people at different times does NOT constitute plagiarism.

In fact, plagiarism would require prior knowledge and an intentional use of copy-written material. There is NO evidence to support this. However, you just accused Moses of a CRIME in WRITING. You stated as a fact that he committed a crime, knowing that you had no evidence of that. By your own actions you have, in fact, committed a crime. Your crime is libel; the written defamation of another person's character with malice intended. Any of Moses' descendants could sue you in a court of law and win.

I believe you were being facetious, but you are only a couple of thousand miles off...

Yup.

The earth was one big supercontinent at the time.
