Did you observe how it happened?
Yes I was alive millions of years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday
You would be amazed at how extensive the fossil record actually is. In some animals, you can almost watch there evolution with them, as if you have one of those books in which you flip the pages to watch an image move, but with evolution instead.
Living in Australia caused marsupial kangaroos, mice, moles, koalas, wombats, squirrels, cats, and dogs?
Cats and dogs were brought there by people when Australia was made into a prison colony, which is documented. Squirrels too, as well as rabbits are not natives to Australia. Those are all placental mammals.
The fact that Australia was isolated from the rest of the planet and happened to start out with a higher population of marsupials is why we see kangaroos, etc., there.
So they were always marsupials. But kangaroos don't look like mice or tasmanian devils or koalas.

Tasmanian devils are not native to Australia, there are a few marsupials in other places. Mice are placental mammals, so the common ancestor of mice and kangaroos was further back than between them and more similar mammals.
Humans and gorillas don't look all that similar either; animals with common ancestors share certain traits, but don't necessarily look alike. Likewise, animals that do look similar aren't always closely related to one another evolutionarily speaking.

Did sharing a similar environment cause the animals to evolve a pouch?
Oh, yes, right before my ancient eyes
Potentially, if the environment was favorable to that trait. Which, in Australia, it generally is beneficial when many animals have to migrate over wide ranges with their young or have to hang out in trees.
Evolution theory isn't based on observation or proven by experiment.
I'm saying you have to accept whatever they tell you without criticism. Your evidence for evolution is often whatever they publish.
They say living in Australia changed the animals into marsupials. Gee. I was thinking of moving to Australia. Now I'm not sure.
The only critics you have are Creationists and nobody wants to listen to them.
Ok I'm just trying to establish nothing you have said is based on your observation. It's just theory.
