  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey everybody,

Have any of you ever had a dormroom to yourself? If so, how did you cope? I thought I'd love having my roommate graduate, yet I'm finding myself really lonely, even after 2 days. Have you just requested that the school give you a rommate? Any experiences would be appreciated!

lol...sometimes I'd kill (not literally) to not have a roomate. You can just go to sleep when you want, watch whatever TV channel you want...all that cool stuff. In your situation, I'd suggest joining a Christian club on your campus if there is one. On my Campus, the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) is a great ministry, and it's not "baptist" if you know what I mean...we've got all sorts of people there. Sometimes it's called the BSU, or BSM, or something of that nature... Also, Chi Alpha is a good one, as is Campus Crusades for Christ. The point is, network with other christians around you, and your dorm life won't be as boring. Peace!

I attend Bethel UNiversity in St. Paul, MN. The dormlife is different than I thought. See. I live in an apartment provided by the school that (right now) has 5 people in it... it should have 7. I have a two person room but my direct roommate graduated. My apartment roommates are almost always out of the room. There is barely no interaction between apartments. I did meet some people in my interim class yesterday, and one asked me to be in his group for the class, but when I get back to the room and see my roommates stuff all empty, it just comes back. I bought an alarm clock radio at Target the other day so I have some people "talking" in the room (the DJs). It helped a little last night, especially in trying to get noise in the room sinc eit's so quiet in here I cant sleep. All my apartment roommates are on a intramural broomball team for the school, and I'm disabled so I can't do that. I do have a mentor that helps me figure things out to find friends but the pathetic thing is, I'm 1/2 way through my junior year and I have no friends. Maybe when I get to the Bible major next semester, it will go better. I know some people in that major and maybe I can grow friendships out of that.

I know there are a lot of people here would love to have a single room. You're gonna have to get to know more people (if you didn't already know that). You said you were going into ministry? That means you'll have to learn how to talk to random people. Just meet some people in the other apartments. Go over and ask them if they want to watch a movie or something. Nothing huge, just little things. You'll slowly get to know more people.
