  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not only is this site utterly filled with heretics and blasphemers, I am amazed that this is a Christian website and so-called Christians get so heated on here. And if they're not heated up beyond belief, they're self-righteous and using Holy Scripture to bash other Christians over the head.

Let's all be Christlike and friendly, alright? Jesus loved the Pharisees, Herodians, Sadducees, and scribes. He became angered that they were hurting his little children, but he could see clearly that they were being influenced by unclean spirits. He loved them all, and he died for them all, just like he died for all of us.

Let's enjoy his Resurrection, and allow ourselves be resurrected in his joy and our hope of glory.

Many people don't agree with my views, Christians and unbelievers alike. Be kind, as I am with you when I disagree with you or feel that what you say is not healthy or a right dividing of the Word.

Let's just be friends and set aside the animosity, will we?

Honestly the behavior of Christians on here is just having me draw further away from the faith (well, the Bible is causing it too). And I came here to ask questions to prevent that, and I've never got any satisfactory answers.

When you get called a demon for asking questions, it's easy to start resenting your religion and doubting it.

See, that's just why I wrote the thread. I don't want to see you discouraged by people who obviously have no love for God in their hearts but only a sense of superiority and a need for power over others. I left Christianity in 1991 because I allowed that type of dummkopf to drive me away from the Church and into the arms of the world and all it has to offer--which, come to find out, doesn't even come close to comparing to the consolation of Jesus and his love and acceptance of me, a heinous sinner.

Now, I am no theologian per se, but I have studied the Word since 1970 (and deeply since 2013), so if you have any specific questions or concerns, I am happy to tell you what I believe about it.

Don't let them do it to you. They are the ones influenced by demonic forces, not you.

Kinda comes with the territory, I'm afraid. It's been that way since New Testament times and even Old Testament times. Virtually the entire letter of James was written about this problem, as well as several sections in First Corinthians. It's a primary strategy of Satan to use Christians against one another, and unfortunately many believers today are oblivious to this. Their eyes are closed so they don't see it, and they end up getting used by the enemy without even realizing it.

But some good scriptures on this would be James 3:1-6 (the problem), and James 3:13-18 & 2 Timothy 2:23-26 (the solution).

But just keep in mind that this problem cannot and will not go away. Scripture attests to this in James 3:8. You can only hope to tame your own tongue, but you will never succeed at keeping others from letting Satan use theirs, no matter how you try. It hasn't happened yet in 2,000 years, and it's not going to for another 2,000 (if Christ were to delay for that long).

So like I said, just comes with the spiritual territory. It's something you have to get used to if you're going to set foot on the spiritual battlefield. Fact of life.

Agreed, and thanks for your thoughts :) Still, all in all, real Christians need to be reminded that it's all about love. So those of us who understand that need to encourage one another and stand up for what we believe in when others fail to see anything except their own fears.

I agree. Those who are listening to the voice of the Lord will hear you. There will be many others who won't simply because Satan convinces them that defending their doctrinal positions is more important than living out the example set for us of what it means to be fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit.

I gave an interpretation of another brother's dream about this very thing roughly a week ago. Scary how Satan can work in our lives if we're not careful. Even when you know these things, it still doesn't exempt you from getting tripped up if you don't keep your wits about you.

Anyway, God Bless! Good to hear you have your priorities right (James 3:18). And thanks for your post.

Blaming others? How would we support that scripturally?
Them causing you to fail? Yes, that's bad.

Great point. As I look back over my life sometimes I lose sight of the truth that it was me, and not them, who made the decision to leave the feet of Jesus. I can blame them all I want, but I left of my own accord, mostly because the world looked extremely enticing. And it was fun for a little while, but not for long. Now I have nowhere else to go except my Jesus. And he is enough.

I have learned that there are just as many saints on barstools as there are here or on pews.

And they're usually less self righteous.

So true. The life of Rich Mullins, for one example, shows us that in sharp definition.

Which ones have the best posture?

Is your faith important to you? Have you studied God's word in depth? Do you have opinions on what is true? Of course there are going to be arguments and disagreements here. Would you rather participate in a forum where everyone thought and said the same thing? There are hundreds of Christian denominations. The true church will not be discovered here, but the truth will be argued here and hopefully this will lead to more studying of God's word to learn the truth. I must say that defending what I believe in this forum has been a great learning source for me.

Now how people carry on in their arguments, can be heated and confrontational. Often, the first sign that an argument is going bad is the assigning of some label to the opposition.

Kinda like what you did in the OP by characterizing this forum as populated by either those that get heated beyond belief or the self-righteous. Which one are you? Sorry, but a few bad apples don't mean everyone or the majority are bad. And, even good people fall short sometimes.

There are a wide range of people participating here with a wide range of doctrinal beliefs. Some are very educated in what they believe. Some are even professionals and have a vested interest in teaching others what they have been taught. Some are new and want guidance to the truth.

I offer this advice, don't come here to have someone tell you the truth. Come here to be challenged and find the truth on your own by searching scripture.

Lastly, this is not a church. This is not where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am. This impersonal internet does not satisfy the command to gather with fellow Christians. If you want comfort, find a church you are comfortable with.
