  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There isn't any "Geologic Column." That is one of the biggest myths used to prop up evolution. The truth is the fossils are jumbled. For just one of countless examples, you can see seashells and so called Precambrian fossils on most any mountain top.
.

Can you please give a reference or a link for this assertion, particularly for the 'so called Precambrian fossils'?

Its basically throwing as much mud as possible against the wall and hoping something sticks. It doesn't matter to most creationists if the arguments they use contradict each other, as long as they get as many out as possible. The only argument that actually matters to them is, "my interpretation of the bible says so." Anything else is frankly a ball of mud used to score points to "win the debate."

The issue is the logic of the two positions.

#1 issue is that fossils don't tell any story, people just make up what they want to see in them.

#2 issue is that the story that they HAVE made up is only convincing to believers already in the common origin faith.

These don't contradict each other.

You would have to ask biologists [In other words you can't answer the Qs yourself but are just assuming....based on faith....that they have the answers. If you can't articulate an answer for yourself you don't really understand the issues. Of course I have already heard what the biologists have to say. I also know what science and logic are and can see when "evidence" is not evidence. May you learn to do the same. for the evidence that whales evolved from mammals with hooves, although I believe ["I believe" is another faith based statement containing no data. that the genetic evidence points to "Points to....indicates....we can infer", i.e the usual fuzz factor words, no real data. Or, if one examines the data what one always, always sees are the usual logical fallacies, unsupported presumptions presented as fact - pretty much as you present your "facts" here and general smoke and mirrors sophistry a relationship between whales and hoofed mammals. I am merely asking whether there is any evidence that modern whales are descended from Mesozoic or Palaeozoic whales, given that there is no fossil evidence for such ancient whales. You're asking me? Of course my answer is Nope, no way. No evidence for that whatsoever.

First, sharks are fish; whales and ambulocetus are mammals. A platypus is a mammal too. It has a bill, and webbed feet, much like a duck.
so what? It doesn't matter if you are comparing sharks and dolphins or whales and ambulocetus or a platypus and a duck. Correlation Does Not Imply Causation in each case. I notice that evo. fans really don't understand logical fallacies and that when they are presented with them, they just evade them, the way you keep evading my actual Qs.
Second, the fact that life comes from life means that modern whales must be descended from ancestors that lived at a geological time when there is no fossil evidence of whales, or even of mammals. Your argument here is based on a faulty premise, which you are religiously adhering to you. You are reasoning backwards. You have accepted evolutionary theory and cannot even imagine that it's not true. You are here demonstrating the Fallacy Of The Single Cause. Frist you assume that evolution is true, while you offer no data to support that belief, and which I know through years of study does not exist, then you tell me "See! It has to be true because evolution is true, so that's the only answer!"

So what are whales descended from? If you went to a museum and looked at Paleocene or Eocene fossils, what animals would you select as the ancestors of whales? Please learn to read. I think it should be abundantly clear that I don't think whales descended from anything but....whales.

Perhaps you should read some geology books, or books on the history of geology. Just to help you, though, all of the geological periods except for the Ordovician were named before Charles Darwin wrote The Origin of Species, the Jurassic and Tertiary periods were named before Charles Lyell and Charles Darwin were even born, and the Carboniferous, Cretaceous and Quaternary periods were named before Lyell published Principles of Geology. Did you know that Geology students study a geologist who based his theories on showing that the Great Flood was true? Guess what, they don't know that either most of the time. His theories are taught, his reasons for them are ignored. What does it matter when or who named fictious time periods. As I demonstrated in an earlier post, p.2 in blue, there are evolution believing scientists who admit how subjective and biased are all the "time lines." Look outside the box. Please stop just parroting what you have heard and analyze it with critical thinking. Keep asking yourself, "Where is the actual....data....to show what they are telling us is true." Here is a quote for you, compliments of icr.org: Steno, the "father of stratigraphy", whose principles of stratigraphic interpretation are still followed today, and of John Woodward, Sir Isaac Newton’s hand-picked successor at Cambridge, whose studies on sedimentary processes laid the foundation for modern sedimentology and geomorphology. These men and the other flood geologists of their day were careful scientists, thoroughly acquainted with the sedimentary rocks and the geophysical processes which formed them. ,

.

A quick look at Wikipedia yields Indohyus, the pakicetids, the ambulocetids, the remingtoncetids, the protocetids, the basilosaurids, the dorudontids, and Llanocetus, Janjucetus hunderi, Aetiocetus weltoni, Ashorocetus, Morowanocetus, Mammalodon, Chonecetus, Willungacetus, Cetotheriopsis, Eomysticetus, Tohoraata, and Kentriodon. That should give you enough research material to keep you occupied.Exactly where in your regurgitated information in your last paragraph, or where anywhere in your posts, as you answering my questions? Where did you tell me how I can know that ambulocetus, a hooved animal with four legs, turned into a great whale, or how I can know that it is related to any of the other so called transitional whales? How can I know it isn't just a dead end, extinct life form? It doesn't even look like a whale. To me the fossil looks more like a horse. So...how do I know it didn't turn into some kind of equine type creature? Rhetorical Q,

You can't build science on logical fallacies like Correlation Does Not Imply Causation.

If you want to keep evading my Qs and typing out "factoids" to make it look like you are actually responding to what my posts have asked for, I'm sorry, I don't have time for red herring logical fallacies. Either answer my Qs - and you won't, because you can't because there are no answers that support evolutionary theory, there or elsewhere - or let's drop this. I have better things to do and you do too.
But, how very kind of you to condescend to want to show me how to "Keep occupied". (Now where is a rolling eyes icon when one needs one?) Occupy me with the answers to my questions!

See notes in color, above. Again, if you just pour out some more faith based statements and more changes of subject and don't answer my Qs I no longer want to continue posting to you. Sorry, but you will go on ignore. And, kindly don't claim, as one poster did, that you did "Address" the Qs. I'm not asking you to address them. I'm asking you to answer them. I know the difference between evasive addressing of an issue and actually answering hard core Qs. I hope you know the difference, or will at least learn to, also.

I am sorry that I said Precambrian. I meant to say Cambrian. However, the statement is evidently still be true. By my understanding there are fossilized "Precambrian" cells from bacteria and they have been found far above the "Precambrian" layers. I meant to say, however, Cambrian because I was thinking specifically of marine life from that period.

I have already addressed your Q in more than one way. First I posted some quotes from evolution believing scientists, in blue at p. 2, where they acknowledge that their dating methods are biased and subjective and that they try to match them to Darwinian belief systems rather than to the actual facts. My favorite quote there is where a scientist laments the difficulty in dating the rock layers when, as he admits, there is "an infinity of missing links." As I asked the OP, how can you tell the difference between "missing" links and never existed ones? Here we see evolutionists ignoring the real evidence again. Of course the evidence is not that they ever existed, but that they ain't in...evidence...anywhere. But ignore the data, the facts, and keep believing in those invisible fossils anyway if you wanna be a faith..full follower of evolutionary dogma.

Re the marine fossils on mountain tops, why am I doing your research for you, though?

All you had to do was Google "Cambrian fossils on mountain tops" or even "Precambrian fossils on mountains" You will right away see many blurbs, from non creationist sites, saying things like this: "These mountains have a rich Cambrian fossil biota that is well-exposed in the southern part of the range."

If you want to know about the so called Jurassic dino bones sticking out of mountain ranges in the far northwestern states, Google that, too.

I mentioned that the fossils are really jumbled, not in nice neat layers, and gave one further evidence in that one can find so called Cambrian trilobytes in people's yards in the hills where I was raised in Kentucky. You can believe that or not. I know it's real true.

Now. again, if you aren't going to answer my Qs - and you will continually evade them and keep trying to change the subject - let's drop this.

Forgive me but what has any of this got to do with the existence of a God?

Forgive me, but what does your Q have to do with the OP's starting post? Did he ask anyone to show the existence of YHWH, aka God? He asked about fossils.

However....I did indirectly give an answer to your Q in a post to Split Rock where there are several vids listed related to the Q. You can search for that post, or not. Up to you. But I usually try to stick to science and logic when debating evolution as the issues of Deity and the Bible become red herrings and strawman logical fallacies. When pressed to answer hard core Qs requiring science and logic (not just the ones listed here by any means) the evo. fans too often try to dodge them by flailing away at the Bible instead, when it has not even been mentioned. As I always say, one way or another, no matter what your religion is, even the religion of atheism, evolution stands or falls based on science and logic alone.

Now, please understand that I am getting tons of responses and only have so much time. I asked the OP some Qs in response to his Qs. You can see them on p.1. If you want to answer those Qs for me - but you never will because there are no answers which support evolution - fine. Otherwise, sorry, but we both have better things to do. I've had more changes of subject than I care to count already.

That's a pretty absurd claim to make. Fossils can give us not only the skeleton, but also 3-dimensional imprints of the actual organism, and even internal structures like organs. We can even find skin and feathers in very well preserved cases, like in shale.

#2 issue is that the story that they HAVE made up is only convincing to believers already in the common origin faith.
.
Well, as I've been saying in this thread, you guys are not convinced by the evidence and can't be unconvinced by the evidence.

I also find it amusing how you continue to use "faith" as an accussation. Denigrating your own faith is OK in the pursuit of a parity you haven't earned, I guess...

That can only be true when there is an older layer that is above a younger layer due to either folding or faulting, in which case they may erode out and wash down to the lower younger layer. Such anomalies do occur and are easily identifiable.

dating methods are biased and subjective and that they try to match them to Darwinian belief systems rather than to the actual facts.
Have you ever compared how, from scientific sources, how specific dating methods are performed, with the way your source(s) describes them being done? In other words, fact check?

All you had to do was Google "Cambrian fossils on mountain tops" or even "Precambrian fossils on mountains" You will right away see many blurbs, from non creationist sites, saying things like this: "These mountains have a rich Cambrian fossil biota that is well-exposed in the southern part of the range."
I am not aware of any Precambrian fossils on mountain tops described by "non creationist" sites. I would really appreciate a link to any said site.

The bill of a platypus just looks like the bill of a duck. They're built complete different, and anyone studying it would be able to tell the difference. Also, plenty of animals have webbed feet. It's not something that's common to only ducks and platypus. It's just a flap of skin.

No one is saying that correlation implies causation. It's not the similarities, it's the PATTERN of similarites. A shark and whale APPEAR similar at first glance, but believe it or not, we've actually studied these creatures, and they hove countless differences that overly their facile similarities. A whales fin is built nothing like a shark's fin. Instead, it looks like a mammalian hand that's been repurposed into a fin. Evolution requires that it looks like this, because evolution can only work with what's alredy there, and whales and sharks are on different branches.

I don't enjoy those branches of science fiction. I go for higher value fields.
Even zombie movies provide a higher value.

We've made similar finds that scales can't evolve into feathers
because they're not the same base structures.

Neither is an accusation or denigration.....you only think it so because of what your faith preaches.

I wouldn't know.
I was only commenting on
the lack of contradiction,
in the OP. not upholding the claims.

Feathers are structured like hair, while scales are structured as
surface skin. They grow and regenerate with different systems.

TO ANYONE: Bye! I think I've said enough on this string. No one answered my Qs, as first seen on p.1 of this string and then oft repeated. One person claimed they had been answered but a perusal of the posts will show that is not the case. One person said my questions were "addressed" but I didn't ask for them to be addressed. I asked for them to be answered.

This weekend I had time for debating evolution but now that is not true and that is why I am saying goodbye. I have prayed for everyone, though, including lurkers. In a world of deception, often only the Holy Spirit can open our eyes, including to the very obvious.

Blessings to you all and that's all I have to say and won't be back.
