• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

My brother and I partook one day a long time ago in our own backyard. I ended up altered of mind from the effects of that single joint (marijuana cigarette). My brother, he had to be rushed to the hospital and became incapacitated. The hospital test revealed the lining of his brain had swollen to an abnormal amount. Did he almost die? We did not carry out any further experiments to find out.

YIKES !
I smoked pot for years, and only had one bad experience, but that pot was doctored with something...I'm sure.
I wish I still had all the money I wasted on being wasted.
It's been twenty plus years sober for me now...to the glory of the King !

Smoking anything is harmful to your body. Marijuana has medicinal effects when it's properly dosed and regulated under the guidance of a competent doctor, but the risk for abuse is extreme. I have many friends who take marijuana in some way, including pills, salves, and other non-smokable forms. Those can be beneficial for pain, and for management of psychological issues.

No medication is for everyone, and there are always side effects. Whether or not a person should take marijuana for their issues is between them and their doctor, but what is conclusive is that smoking a substance introduces carcinogens into one's lungs and causes damage.
