  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

No nightlight but the room isn't pitch black...we usually have lights on after they go to sleep, and a nightlight in the bathroom in case of potty breaks.

I on the other hand leave the bedside lamp on till DH comes to join me! My children have never expressed a concern over lights, you simply do not sleep with one on, it makes no sense...How can you sleep when it is light and ready to play?

Andie has one in her room, it kinda happened with us like Mrs.A2J said.....I had a night-light when she was a baby, for the night-time feedings & all that, just never got rid of it! And makes it easier for her if she has to get up in the middle of the night....

We keep the hall light on/door open. The reason is because if we did have a nightlight in Ian's room, he would have it completely disassebled and would have shocked himself to death 5 minutes after bedtime. Plus, both boys wake up in the night and we leave the hall light on so they will come to us, not vice versa, because we're just a little bit selfish in the middle of the night and they just end up climbing into our bed anyway.

Well I answered no- the 14, 8 and 6 year olds don't have them. The baby does- but he sleeps with us and the night light is more for me to latch him on at night.

flashlight at the bedside table for that very reason! (though as he gets older he needs my help less.)

FYI -

Recent research is showing some surprising effects of not sleeping in the dark.

Kids who sleep with nightlights before the age of 2 are more likely to be short sighted and need glassed than kids who sleep in the dark. (10% to 34%)

Meletonin production is hurt by not sleeping in darkenss. This in turn hurts the bodies natural rythyms for sleeping and waking putting adults and children in a state of sleep deprivation.

There appears to be some correlation betweeen melotonin production and the growth of some tumors - they grow faster when there is light at night.

Only sleep at stage 4 (really deep sleep) releases Human Growth Hormone that not only helps us grow, but also repairs injuries to the body. Children who sleep with lights on get less stage 4 sleep.

They all have nightlights. I wish I could have one but my husband can't fall asleep with any kind of light in the room so I just hold on to him till I fall asleep.

Without a night light they can't find their bears if they fall out of bed. That leads to waking mommy to find them and waking the baby by turning on the big light.

My 4 year old also has a nightlight for nightmare reasons. My husband doesn't understand but I still get them and want he to feel as secure as possible in her own room.

Yes my oldest has a light. She doesn't like complete dark but the bedroom and closet doors must be closed. Youngest has some purple rope lights. They are very subtle. I don't like complete dark myself. I use to leave the bathroom light on now I have a night light. My husband wants complete darkness when he sleeps, so the nightlight is less offensive to him. I hate getting up and not being able to sleep I have bashed into way to many things. I tend to be a little clutzy even in daylight, let alone what I do to myself in compelte darkness.

Interesting point, I wonder if that is why I never heal up very fast (I am prolly done growing at least)
