  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They all better play a much more disciplined game today.

I've heard that the league has warned both teams that any sort of taunting related to the earlier finger-biting incident will result in 2 minutes and a misconduct. Plus, I expect the refs will be calling things tight at the start to keep things under control.

Yeah, the finger biting thing really needed to be done with. What I would like to see is the officials stopping all the hacking, slashing, and sticks in the face. That stuff causes injuries and isn't really being called much. That, and Thomas is getting away with stuff he shouldn't. Yes he's an incredibly talented player, but that doesn't mean he should be allowed to attack guys. It seems like Boston is just trying to win by injuring most of the Canucks with cheap shots. And all the officials do is tell them to knock it off. Not impressed. Not that the Canucks are completely innocent of course, but they're playing nowhere near as dirty as Boston is.

My poor Red Wings...
I would have loved to see Canucks vs. Red Wings in the finals. That would have been pure entertainment. Fast paced games with lots of finesse moves.

Have any of you guys ever played Hockey to understand it?

I've played for over 10 years, and watching these finals, I can see that Boston is taking some cheap shots, but they are playing a non-hesitant hockey game. What I mean by that is that they do not hesitate to hit Vancouver at any opportunity. Their passes and plays are faster now, unlike the first 3 rounds where they took a pass and looked for the play, but now they are making faster plays. Vancouver is intimidated by (not just) the physical play, but all the extra curricular stuff (after the play is done). They have a bit of hesitation when going to hit and they are not confident in their plays. They have not been winning many small battles these past two games, and that is why they are 2-2 in the series. Luongo hasn't been that great, but his team is more to blame than he is.

I only played a bit of hockey as a kid (strange for a small-town Canadian boy), but I've been watching regularly since before I can remember. I agree with your assessment. I think in games 1 and 2, Boston was the hesitant team and lost (barely) because of it. Now that they've picked things up, I think the Canucks are in real trouble unless they can match the intensity.

Yup and they really need to click on the power play. It's been horrendous through this whole series.

Sedin promises a win...

So he's got a fifty-fifty chance of keeping his promise. Captains/players make those sorts of statements all the time. People only remember it when they're right (see: Messier in '94).

BOSTON!!!!!!!!

Doesn't matter who the Canucks were playin', I'm just glad Vancouver (and Canada) lost!!! To let a Canadian team beat an American team in the Stanley Cup (or in anything for that matter) would be wrong.

And ain't it classy right now how the Vancouver fans are booing the presentation of Lord Stanley's Cup? Somethin' to be proud of, Canada. Very classy.

Way to go Bruins!!
