  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So the post-season has begun, and the race for the Cup is on! Who are your favourites? Who's likely to be the dark horse?

Personally, as much as I loathe them, the Canucks are certainly the top contenders. They should take the West. The East is trickier. Washington looks good, but they have a history of playoff failure. My heart is with the Habs, but my head says they are in tough and likely won't make it past Boston. I can always hope, though. Can't wait for game 1 tonight.

Boston is really struggling with Tampa right now. Kaberle should step up, big time. So far he's been average. As for the VAN-SJ, I don't trust my fellow countryman Niemi. Also, if Kesler gets his Nashville-killing form back, it will be 4-2 for Canucks. And I hate the Canucks!

Luongo + Thomas = excellent series...

I agree. My problem is that I am in Vancouver, and while I don't have a horse in this race, I am inundated with inane statements by homer Canuckleheads who can't see the quality of the games over their complaining about the refs and ignoring just how close their team has been to the brink. I've had people tell me after tonight's game that the Canucks are far superior, that the Bruins don't have a chance, and that it'll be Vancouver in four games.

That may very well happen, I don't know, but after a game where both teams were playing well and were 20 seconds from OT, to say that either team was clearly more deserving of a win is clearly a stretch. This one turned out to be 50-50 either way, and the Canucks got to their 50 first.

I think I agree with the statement that the Canucks are the better team on paper, but this is the NHL...anything can happen. That's the beauty of professional sports.

Same thing with the NBA...I don't think anyone will disagree that the Heat are the best team on paper, but that doesn't mean the Mavs can't win it all...

Looking forward to the rest of each series...I think they'll be good ones...

Go Canucks!!
It is a blast watching them this year. I was glued to the TV during the '94 run and they went as far as they did primarily on grit, but not with quite the depth that this year's team has. I'm not sure I could say they'll take it in 4. Boston is a tough team. But I do believe that the Canucks are going to take this one, and likely in less than 7 games.

It's a horrible hit, and a clear late headshot, but I hesitate to call it a cheap shot because I don't think the intent was there by Rome. He still deserves a suspension, but I don't think it was malicious.

Listening to some Canucks fans, though, you'd think there was nothing wrong with that hit.

I agree it was a bad hit, and that it was not malicious. Rome is not that kind of player. Additionally, Horton had his head down, which is just asking for trouble. He was watching his pass. SO many guys get taken out because of that. I've seen it happen to Canucks too. It was clearly interference though and the right call was made. I felt so sick watching him there on the ice, and I'm glad he's going to be OK.

How did everyone like Thomas' hit on Sedin? lol
