  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, stats are one thing(and they tend to place things in a vaccuum), but you can't deny the intangibles, and Eli has them in spades. Romo just can't get it done when he needs to. You can be great for the first 16 weeks, but it all boils down to can you do what it takes when the game or the season is on the line. As it stands right now, Romo doesn't have it. Trust me, I'm a 20+ year Giants fan, so I know all about the ups and downs. We'll have to see what this season holds.

I'm a 50+ year Giants fan and have seen worse. But I've stuck with them all these years and will be a Jints fan 4 life! :)

The NFL is going to have to do something about all of these highly critical preseason injuries. How can teams succeed when this happens? And what of the salary cap? Now a team cannot sign another player or make a trade and this hurts a team's chances. Something needs to be done.

I agree on the cap, its nonsense. A team should be allowed to pay as much as they are willing for players, rather than an arbitrary cap that's supposed to "level the playing field". (Pun intended) As for the preseason injuries, I'm not sure there's much they can do. Football is a rough sport, and injuries are bound to happen. What could they do? They've already made the head 100% off limits, which has sent tacklers low to avoid the fines and suspensions, which is causing more leg injuries. Short of making it two hand touch, I'm not sure what more they can do....

In rugby they changed the rules so that shoulder charge is no longer legal - only arm wrap is allowed and injuries have been reduced. Maybe its time to impose this rule especially at the amateur level.

Sounds a lot like two hand touch! ;) Besides, most NFL players can run right out of an arm tackle. If you regulate too much, you lose the essence of the game. Before long its just a score fest, and nobody wants to watch anymore....

Shoulder charge was not used until the 1930s. Therefore, it never was a part of the game that evolved into gridiron football. Rugby fans initially complained about the loss of this form of tackling. But now that careers have been saved they are more disposed to accept it.

An interesting take on the concussion settlement by the NFL: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer...-765m-settlement-but-players-didnt-deserve-it

I just got off the phone with my attorney. Why?

I had a concussion playing 115-pound football and another in high school. Back then -- not leather helmet days but close --they just called it getting your bell rung and stuck some nasty crap in front of your nose, and told you to go back into the game.

So I am suing.

Why not? I might get an extra $100,000 or so for my bank account. The precedent has been set. The NFL settled Thursday with a group of players filing concussion lawsuits to the tune of $765 million. So why not go after the high schools? Pop Warner? Colleges? And maybe even those two-hand touch games set up by our dads? (Continues in article)

Time to call it a season, trade away old players for new draft choices, and start anew.

Yeah, I said that back when they were 0-5....Up until this last game, I'd placed a good deal of the blame on Coughlin's shoulders, but that bears game loss belongs solely to Eli...been a Giants fan for 20+ years, and dealt with some rough seasons, but this is ridiculous!
