I was married for 28 years and going through a divorce. I can't stand this loneliness. Is it wrong of me to ask God to keep me from getting discouraged and depressed? Also, I met a guy that I really care about, but I just wonder if God"s telling me to steer away from him. First of all he has herpes and then he tells me his religion is Unitartian. I'm not sure what that is therefore don't know if it God's way of telling me he's not right for me or not.

Unitarianism is a Christian doctrine that stresses individual freedom of belief and rejects the Trinity...not good in other words.
God is certainly One who gives endurance and encouragement and all the more in your extremely disheartening circumstances!
Read the psalms, full of prayers from people going through major distresses and how God ministers to them!

You are not alone, none of us are. Trust in the Lord, not yourself, not another, Trust in the Lord. He will show you his ways, follow him.

First of all, if he is not Christian, don't start a relationship with him...down the road you may have problems with morals and values.
And, second, it is NEVER wrong to ask God to keep you from getting depressed and discouraged.
Have hope dear child of God, he will pay you what you deserve.
