• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi yall, I just found this forum after a friend recommended it to me. I have a serious question I dont want to ask anyone in person about.

What does the Bible say about pleasuring yourself? Is it alright if you only do it rarely? When does it become degenerate sin? I find myself tempted by basically nothing... I can be tempted to feel myself and make shameful excretions out of no where. Whether I see a provocative picture on the internet, see a girl bend over to pick something up just randomly, or just whatever, this evil temptation can even rouse itself after doing wholesome things like doing my devotions or whatever.

So yeah this is a pretty big problem for me, I find myself being engulfed by my own carnal desires. Sometimes it distracts me multiple times a day, I do not know how much longer I can take these temptations.

Please let me know if you have any relevant verses or Christian literature on this subject, anything would help.

Thanks!

Goddaloveit, I found what you said immature and offensive. And Lost but found. When you touch and think about married women, mothers, you are commiting a sin. I think the only way masterbating isn't sinful is if you think about your wife. God is very clear that you are not to the fleshful desires. But!!! The good news is, is your a babe yet, if you truly pray and truly put forth a God loving God fearing effort Christ will help you defeat your sin. One pitfall though is to look fr excuses and reasons why it's okay just to do it one more time. Sex, even solo can be a dangerous drug. Good luck brother.

Well it is really hard to stop and if I just do it in my own privacy, albeit sometimes fervently in episodes where I lose track of time as I yank myself, what is the big deal? I mean its not like I am having premarital relations so its not that bad right? I guess I have identified the problem but not really figured out how to abstain! :(
