Hello Jaxxyy, a bible and some reference books or web sites is all you need. Many books were written about the bible but many of them have a bias towards the author's personal beliefs i would avoid these extra books for now, the Bible is all you need to start with. As for joining a church, much too early. read and understand the bible berorehand.

I recommend a free web site that is excellent has so many tools that will greatly help such as atlas, commentaries, interlinear, parallel versions and a lot more all free. It is also easy to use here is the link;
