  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

jehovas witneses dont believe that God is the father the son and the holy spirit. they believe that God is God alone. they believe that jesus isnt God. Jehovas witneses believe that jesus is the same as the angel michael. jehovas witneses also believe that christ already returned to earth once in 1914.

to conclude: jehovas witneses may use the bible, but they are not christians. we christians believe that christ is God, that he died, rose to heaven-but is with us in spirit and will come back to earth in person to judge the rightious and the unrightious. believing that is what makes us christians.

Hi, Seek a Church which is bible believing, and spirit filled and moving within the spirit of God!

The J.Ws is not a Bible believing Church or spirit filled.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

What you need to do is visit all your local churches within your area, and where you feel you have peace within you heart, and know that the Church is in the Spirit of God, then your in the right Church.

Yours wholly in Christ

I can't comment much upon their doctrine, but I do know that when people join they are required to abandon their family and that Christian events like Christmas or Easter are not celebrated, neither are birthdays.

I've had two relatives become JWs, one many years ago and another just recently. On both occasions the results were very destructive. Both ended up virtually self made outcasts from the family. It was very upsetting and though the first one long since abandoned that religion, the deep, deep wounds have never been healed. Her two daughters are still JWs and will have nothing to do with any of the family.

As a result of this history, I am now not free to even refer to my faith within my family as they're all too spooked to understand there's a difference.

I have a few questions. What do you mean by 'try out'?Religion isn't like trying on some new clothes, you are better to do research on various denominations before attending a church and participating in something which may be wrong and not fit in line with your beliefs. Secondly i'd like to ask what motivated you in the direction of finding a new religion and what was/is your previous/current religion?

It sounds to me like you haven't really figured out what your core beliefs are yet, correct me if i'm wrong but i get that feeling. If i were in your situation where i was trying to find the truth, i would read up as much as i could on various denominations and line them up with the bible. I think a good bible knowledge and a sureness in your beliefs is essential before choosing a denomination where you may, if not strong in faith, be misled or brainwashed into believing something which is not true by over zealous church leaders and members.

JW is a cult not a Christian Denomination. They believe that Jesus is the Arch Angel and that works are how you obtain salvation. They also believe that the 144,000 talked about in Revelation are the only ones that will go to heaven so not even all of the JW will go. It's very messed up and I would stay far away!
I agree

I would like to encourage you to seek what you believe first. Are you a believer in the risen Lord Jesus Christ? If your not sure please read the book of John in the New Testament. And talk to someone in the church you go to now, or your parents, and ask questions, to see if your inline with the bible.
If you have friends that go to other churches of the same belief and your parents don't mine, ask if you can go to their midweek with them. Maybe both you and your parents would be happy with this.

God Bless:wave: Let us know how it goes w/you

I haven't read all the messages in this thread but am I right in thinking that Jehovah Witnesses add or maybe take away from the bible? Adding or taking away is wrong isn't it? or changing text from the bible that is wrong too I think

I've heard they changed parts of the bible to make it their own translation. They also seem to interpret passages wrongly. They say 144,000 will go to heaven and the rest will live on the new earth. That's what the pamphlet I got says.

to the threadstarter, I think you did the right thing to come to us and ask for advice, or else you might've tried to join JW's and who knows what else would've happened. Keep praying to God and ask him to lead you to the right church. That's what I am currently doing.

Why dont you pray and ask God to convict you that He is real? The bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 i think "You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you."

Cry out to God and say you need Him, Maker of the Heavens and Earth, Creator God to come and to change your life. Tell God that you are confused and you need help. Ask Him.

I know a girl who is not a christian, she is one of those idol worshippers. Nobody ever told her about Jesus or Christianity. Then one day she said in her heart, "God if you are real, please reveal to me." She told me its a dangerous thing to say. 2 years later, one day she was at home and she heard someone call her name, then she saw a man standing outside and calling her. She approach Him and asked Him who He was, He told her He is Jesus and asked her to go to Church.

She had a "Paul in Damascus encounter". Amazing

Having been a christian for 20 years and never having this kind of experience, i am so amazed by God. Not many have the priviledge of having Jesus appear to them face to face but when you are seeking God and really wanting to know the Truth, then God will reveal Himself to you.

Stay away from Jehovah Witness.

Shalom, May God's Peace Be With You
