New Progressive Adventist Subforum

We should probably make a thread dealing with prospective changes if we have an independent sub-forum.

The first thing we probably need is a name. As one of the problems with this forum was that we lost the contribution of former Adventists we need to make sure that they are included in the new sub forum.

Perhaps "Progressive and Former Adventists".
Since that encompasses those who are still Adventists and those still concerned with the Adventist culture and theology. Which of course is integral to the Progressive Adventist position.

I was thinking of using the word "Independent" but that would take into the concept of all those independent ministries which are actually ultra traditional.

How about Progressive/Evangelical/Former Adventist Forum.

This way, we cover all the bases.

Even though I am under the umbrella of Progressive Adventist, I am not one in the strict sense of the word, as there are some things I do not agree with.

Also, I brought this up in the WWMC thread:

Will it be possible to have our threads from the old Prog subforum transferred over to there in the potential new subforum? Or is that a logistical nightmare?

If that is not doable, I will probably just re-post all of my OP's there one by one, but that will be a time-consuming process! Of course, then all of the subsequent discussion will be lost.

I propose that if a new subforum is re-located there, the old Prog area be shut down permanently and a link to there provided. This way, any non-Traditional SDA's who come across the Adventist area of CF can be re-directed there.

I like this one because it endorses the evanglical view you have my vote

for purposes of clarity I don't really like the evangelical part. The main reason is that today evangelical is equivalent to fundamentalist. You can check it out by asking the TSDA how many think of themselves as Evangelical I am quite sure the majority will say yes.

Perhaps Progressive/Moderate and Former Adventists would be better.

I don't think it would be a lgistical nightmare... but why not start afresh and anew if a new subforum for you can be arranged in WWMC?

Leave all the bad and hurtfull baggage behind and start anew?

Well, if whole threads don't want to be transferred, I at least want my OP's transferred. I will do it myself if I have to.

I put a lot of work and thought into some of them. Too much to just leave them behind here.

I think stand alone would be the best choice but I did not think that that idea was working out with the powers that be.

It took some time to get clarification, but I now have official confirmation that that is a viable option.

IMO, including 'formers' would necessitate it to be a stand-alone forum.

YES, YES, YES. Our own, separate, stand alone forum! That is exactly what I have been wanting from day one! I thought we fell short of the 20 minimum Prog members though?

Man, I wish this had been verified a LOT earlier. I appreciate what WWMC want to do for us, but if we can get our own stand alone forum, YES for sure let's do it!

I'd like you guys to have your own stand-alone forum, and I'd also ask that the WWMC subforum option be kept open as a fallback, just in case the stand-alone forum somehow fails.

I'll let WWMC know what's happening.
