  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New ideas!

The intelligent man is always open to new ideas. In fact, he looks for them.

I really love this verse. It's engaging. It's something I can do. But I still want to know how I can look for new ideas. Where do they come from? How do you guys get new ideas, or inspiration?

I pray to God for more ideas.

What was my favorite verse for that . . . Jeremiah 33:33
"‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’"

And those verses that say God has something unknown waiting for those who serve, and in another verse love Him.

Cool! I would like to know more. That verse you shared was a real gem. Now I have something you share. I figured if you really like this verse then you might like to see some other translations...

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

I was shown a bunch of new things, became a new thing, and though remembrance of scripture leads me through the experience - most people don't get it, and sometimes feel the need to treat me badly because I do not agree with their theology.

So you can ask for what God has prepared for you, but ... be prepared, you'll have to rely on Him and no one can help you with it - because it's unique.

What are some things you learned?

The word idea is not the best translation.
Especially since there is such thing as a bad idea. Not to mention, the actual word, knowledge allows for a Christ-centered interpretation.

New ideas are new until they are articulated.

When they are new, they come out in tongues -- but that's useless, so I pray to translate.

None of the "ideas" are new, just the way they're applied.

What have you applied recently?
