Birds are birds. Dinosaurs were dinosaurs, but they all died out thousands of years ago.

Nope. Archaeopteryx is a Dino-bird. Had some dinosaur traits (like teeth, scales and feathers )and some bird traits ( functional wings) So did Microraptor which had 4 wings. The non-avian dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago but we still have a few modern theropods flying around . One dive bombed me the other day ( blasted pigeons)

I feel sorry for you as you think that the universe is some weird random place that doesn’t make any sense like a bad trip on some psychedelic drug. How confusing! I find that the universe is understandable even if God isn’t always .

Er, no. I don't think it's random at all. I think that's rather your thinking. I believe it was created by God, an intelligent designer who still today sustains it in good order. I can say that, because I trust in the Bible.

The part that says non-living matter produced living things? True as far as it goes, but He didn't give us the details. He left that for us to find out.

This was abiogenesis --- and then came evolution.

Birds are evolved from dinosaurs. This was predicted by Huxley over a hundred years ago, based on homologies between birds, dinosaurs and crocodiles. Since that time, the prediction has been verified in several ways:
1. The discovery of a large number of transitional forms, including feathered dinosaurs.
2. The discover that scutes (scales found on birds, dinosaurs, and crocodiles) can be induced to form feathers
3. Genetic data linking archosaurs like birds and crocodiles
4. Discovery that dinosaurs had the same "avian" respiratory system as birds do.
5. Discovery of small amounts of organic molecules in dinosaur fossils that show close affinities to those of birds

This is precisely how science is supposed to work! A theory makes a prediction. Subsequently (in this case, a century) it is confirmed. As this keeps happening over and over, the theory looks better and better.
