I was comforting a friend yesterday whose father aged 50, previously fit and healthy, has died of covid after it invaded his body.
Even in my family there are two who refuse vaccination.
This is tragic and senseless. Even God cannot help those who refuse to take the help on offer. What more can He do?
I've had all my jabs, including flu. I know there are no guarantees but if I get it, I know I have a chance. Far better than no chance at all.

This argument will go on but the deaths are happening. It is dangerous. No guarantees of natural immunity nor ongoing immunity without boosters.

I am sorry for you loss. Unfortunately, those in denial will scroll past this post, or see it and (well, the supposed fit/healthy unvaccinated ones) will put their head in the sand.

No, they won't give you 100 immunity, it's never existed since the Delta came out. This isn't a sterilizing vaccine, like with polio or small pox. It just lessens the severity of disease (wow, how many times have I, and others here, have typed this?)

There are several points to be made:

Covid has been over-hyped from the beginning
Remember all the field hospitals and medical ships in NYC when Covid first arrived there? Remember all the fear and panic? Remember how it all eventually came to...not much? Field hospitals and the medical ships were little used, if at all.

The news media is not trustworthy
The news media can't even report the facts of the Rittenhouse case right, even after a much-publicized trial. The news media clearly has their own agenda, and it involves spreading Covid panic. And let's throw social media censorship into this part, too.

Give me liberty, or give me death
I would much, much rather deal with whatever Covid can do to me than deal with this slow creep of governmental totalitarianism that is happening due to Covid panic.

Vaccines and boosters give one a fighting chance. Without them you are at the mercy of the virus. I would never risk that myself. I am saddened at those who are doing. I truly hope they do not find out the hard way.
Do not gamble with your life, at least take what help is possible.

So, the story so far...

Everyone should get vaccinated, even though vaccines do little to nothing to stop this new strain.

If you don't get vaccinated, you're just a dead man walking.

If you do get vaccinated, you're still a dead man walking, because vaccines do nothing to stop this new strain.

If you're not vaccinated, it's your fault this new strain exists, and that the vaccines aren't working, and that people are dying, and that the gubmnt has to step in an make you do all those things everyone knows you should because seye-aunts.

If you'd only wear a mask, or two masks, or five masks, or just have your nose and mouth sewn shut and stop breathing, and if we all just lived in complete isolation from each other, then maybe, maybe, maybe we'd finally see the end of Covid. Which makes some sense, since people who don't breath are all dead and if everyone is dead then no more Covid.

The only thing less funny than my lame attempts at sarcastic humor is the reality of how some people refuse to see the sick jokes the power-hungry in governments are pulling on them

I'm not aware that some of your claims had been proven yet. From what I've read so far, the new variant does have more spike proteins which does make it possible to infect more easily the human cell. As to whether or not the present vaccines are effective, I don't think that's been studied enough yet. It is certainly bad news for us and that seems to be reflected in the economic picture today. I know that a lot of people were looking forward to this issue being pretty well conquered and all the lock downs over with, but this new variant 'may' change some of that. How widely and how quickly it's going to spread is, as yet, an unknown.

I've long been a believer who believes that the horsemen of the Revelation were long ago released upon the earth. I don't think we've seen all of the death and destruction that the horseman of plagues will do.

Some people observe the "cycles" found in other illnesses, like the black plague which has been recorded to have returned in roughly 10 year cycles. Or the flu, which cycles again every winter season.

...But this virus seems to play by a different set of rules altogether, growing consistently worse as time moves on.

The big question is; is science aiding in this process, by forcing mutations into a certain (more deadly) direction?

That didn't happen with smallpox, polio, diptheria, measles, whooping cough, etc.

Generally speaking, a virus is more apt to mutate the more people it can infect ... and for a longer time period.

Vaccines work to decrease the pool of people available to be infected ... and to decrease the severity (and, thus, the time period) of each infection.

P.S. The virus isn't getting stronger ... it's becoming different. If we keep up a good proactive vaccination game, we can beat it ...

That's what Geert Vanden Bossche and others have been warning about all along if you mass-vaccinate in the middle of a pandemic with a leaky vaccine. While the predictions from the pro-vax side continue to fail (2 weeks to flatten the curve, herd immunity with % vaxed, no viral transmission from the vaxed, prevents death & hospitization, etc...), the predictions of the censored scientific community seem to be holding.
