  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've heard TULIP before..doesnt that stand for something?

Thank you Zecryphon, because I had not heard of it either.

what are your thoughts about the doctrine of election? any thoughts?

I try not to think much, sorry. ;) heh

Seriously, yes, Lutherans believe that God knew which of us were His from the beginning. That means that nothing is ever going to cause Him to write us out of His book of Life.

However, we do NOT believe in double election, that is, the false belief that if God knows who will be saved, He also knows who will be damned and therefore He created some people for the sole purpose of going to Hell. For Scripture does not teach that and it is man's attempt at reasoning.

Scripture plainly tells us we are saved entirely through God given faith. But it also tells us that man is doomed by his own actions of turning willfully away from God.

Not very logical, but it is what Scripture teaches and so that is what we teach and confess.

yes they are! I'm trying to bring my wife and my son up in Christ. How did you start bringing up your kids in Christ when they were around two?

Hey! Welcome to TCL

I'm from Mich. too, south east lower, Lenawee county, but I would much rather be up where you are. I love the north woods and lakes.

As to answer your question here, first of all I'm playing catch up here, but I immediately thought of my daughter. She has 3 little ones, 6, 3 and 20 monthes. She started with them right from being babies, holding them on her lap with praying hands for meal prayers and night time prayers, reading them bible stories and the whole thing.

My daughter runs a day care in her house, and the six year old has been play/teaching sunday school with the other day care kids. It just really fills yer heart up to see such little ones talking about Jesus :holy:
