  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello, everyone. I was looking for a place to explore my faith more and upon reading around a bit, this place seemed pretty safe :). Right now I am not of any religion or church yet. I was being advised on this, but the person helping me is no longer in my life. I am working toward becoming a christian.

I was born into a catholic family, but around 8 or so I had decided religion was not for me. My parents had split in divorce and that made me feel unhappy and unfaithful. I always felt that god was real, there was never a time when I said different, but my view on god was very much similar to him being a perfect role model. Or someone you should look up to. Suffice to say I didn't think he was controlling my life.

My opinions have changed very recently. I'm a bit older now and I can see things with a greater perspective. I now believe that God does play a role in your life, and everything is part of his plan. Although, much like before, I am having trouble being absolutely in the trust of God. Instead of just throwing my hands in the air and saying "oh well" I'd like to explore this.

That all said, I am here to expand upon where i left off with that person and try to really get into this. Thank you for taking the time to read.

P.S do you guys have any favorite things about living your life with god?

I also was raised Catholic and dabbled in protestantism for a bit, so if you have any questions about either one or differences between the theologies of the various christian groups, don't hesitate to ask :)

In any case, welcome!

Hi there; good to see you; God bless His Word, the Bible, to you.

It's good to read Scripture every day, in a trusting, prayerful way; it won't mislead. The theme of the written Word of God is the One Who is the living and eternal Word of God Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ, Who died at the Cross for sinners, and is the only Savior of Sinners. John chapter 3 is a great chapter to read.

I'm not exactly sure the diffences. I don't remember much from being a catholic and for what it seems like i have to search around to see which sub-religion is right for me. The person instructing me was a Calvanist, but other chirstians tell me that if i am just starting to learn i should not try that

This is not the place to discuss it but you can PM me if you want

My apologizes! I edited my post to fix it.

Anyway, thank you again for the warm welcome. :)

Oh really? :D

Also Shadow, how are you liking CF so far? :)

I am very excited to meet new people. It's been going great. I did have one general concern, though. As I have not found myself a denomination (i believe it's called), where do i go when we're done with introductions? I set myself as a christian by name, but I have not fully accepted it myself. Would the section of questions for people who are already a christian help me find my place?

I'll send you a PM. To reply to PM's, you need 10 posts, so I'll explain in the PM. :)
