Now you're going to confuse me. I've had (Latin) Catholics tell me they fasted from meat during every day of Lent. But of course the Friday fish fries are famous.

From what I know, traditionalists fast every day, but ordinary Catholics only fast from meat on Fridays.

Catholics [ with the exception of most Eastern Catholics ] have no idea as to what fasting is.

They are required to fast on two days only - Ash Wednesday and Good Friday . They are supposed to abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent and nowadays all year round - but , to our eyes fish is meat and they have these Fish Fries on Fridays during Lent [ Actually that's a US practice - never heard of it in the UK ]

I foresee them dropping the no meat on Fridays thing eventually, too. The next “tough” challenge will be——only one package of Stevia in your coffee. And it gets worse—-no alcohol on prime numbered days of the month not falling on weekends.

That’s actually challenging.

We have school zones in Australia where the spped limit dops to 40 for certain hours on school days but not on weekends, public holidays, or designsyed school holidays. As we no longer have children at school by the time you have googled it to find out what speed you should be doing you have passed yhe school anyway.

To calculate maybe? ;)

Yeah...sure...

Call me a soy boy all you want, I love sugar (or equivalents) and cream in my coffee. It’s minus 6 years off my lifespan, but it makes the coffee better tasting.

And while I typically only drink on social occasions, and have only gotten drunk once with a friend (and not that drunk where I was near blacking out and got hung over - just a bit drunk - but still, Lord have mercy on me a wretched sinner), I still like beer and vodka.

Eating fried fish at a fish fry instead of meat is almost nothing in comparison to no artificial sugar in the coffee, and randomly not being allowed to drink on a social occasion.

I should’ve said “more challenging” rather than challenging.
