So far I am now depress after reading all these suggestions for names. Someone made a comment about the seventies I need to remind them that there are some members here will try as hard as they want will not remember the seventies. I think it has to do with that time period.

The other comment is about cats and having a house full of them. The next thing you are going to tell me is that you talk to them. I have two cats now and I have never talked to them. Ever now a then I look up on the net for cooking suggestion for them (PLEASE TAKE THIS POST WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. I AM BORED AT WORK TODAY WITH NOTHING TO DO, IT's TO COLD TO TEACH SAILING SO I am stuck in the office) I actually do like them.
I agree - I prefer to forget the 70's as well.
ALF started being shown again last night.
Remember the alien who wanted to eat the family cat.
I never liked that show. :D

I only have one real cat. And just got a CF cat.

Let's see....

In the seventies, I went through puberty.
Went through all those horrible awkward years of high school.
Had a horrible first year of college.

Yup......the seventies is a decade I wish I could forget.

Although, and I know this will make some people puke, I did like the disco music.

I liked my high school years (Class of '78), so have some good memories of the 70's. I remember listening to American Top 40, "Casey's Coast to Coast" narrated by Casey Kasem every weekend. And there was American Bandstand hosted by Dick Clark and Wolfman Jack's Midnight Special on Friday nights. And I remember tuning my radio to WLS (AM 89 on the dial) in Chicago and listening to the WLS "Boogie Check"...the signal was strong enough at night where you could listen anywhere in the Eastern U.S!

Cooking suggestions? Do you mean to make homemade cat food? Or.... to cook the cats? ;)

Disco music still makes me sick. A local place I go for dinner had disco music night. Paid for my dinner and left. Later that week the waitress asked what happen I just said I hate disco music and will need to remember not to go to that place on Thursday night.

Sevenities just was not a good time lost some friends to bad drugs (they are all bad) I did some bad things too. Learn some hard lessons.

LadyDJ ... me, too! Me, too! I loved my Motown, my funk, my disco and my soul/R&B. I loved my classic 70s mellow music, too; like Barry Manilow, Bread, Three Dog Night and those one hit wonders! Oh, but I loved the rock n roll as well. You can't beat some of those standards by Kansas, Queen, The Who, Led Zepplin, ACDC, Journey, etc.

Class of '79 here. I forgot about Wolfman Jack's Midnight Special ... that was great! Or the beginning of SNL and the original all-time-players! The only thing we don't have in common there Donny ... that avatar of yours! :p Wanna know what I REALLY REALLY REALLY loved about those 70s? Too bad, I'm gonna tell ya ... er, show ya ... (and we'll just agree to disagree for now)

I was a big Steeler fan then, too. The Panthers did not come until '95 and our first coach was Dom Capers, who we got from the Steelers. Who can forget Terry Bradshaw and the Steel Curtain and the Immaculate Reception? Franco Harris and Rocky Blier.. And their theme "We are Family" and the Mean Joe Greene commercial! :) And Myron Cope on sports? Does he still do the sports in Pittsburgh? (I was in Elkins, WV in the late 70's and remember him and a few other Pittsburgh TV stations...I remember Elvira on Friday nights on Channel 11?)

We Are Family was the Pittsburgh Pirate's theme song back then when we had Willie Stargell, Dave Parker and company; not the Steelers. The city's theme song, primarily because of the Steelers, and in 1979 the Pirate's World Series Win, was We Are the Champions by Queen. Joe Greene and his commercial was a classic! How about our Polka song (we're from the town with the great football team, we are the Pittsburgh Steelers...). LOL

Myron Cope on Sports ... yes, he still exists. A couple of years back I went to the Summer Training camp up in Latrobe and saw him standing down on the sideline. What a rock-solid beer gut that man has. His voice always irritated me and still does. I don't know how he has stayed in the business.

Elvira Queen of Darkness ... yep, man the memories are being stirred. Thanks for the sound bites.

Oh, I follow my football well and know exactly when your Carolina Panthers rolled around then took Kevin Green from us as well. There's not a year I'm not following my football. This year it will be amsuing to watch Buffalo now that they have our ex-offensive line coach as their Head coach (Mularky). AND ... Baltimore with Kordell. I go to at LEAST two home games at the Heinz a year. This year I want more since I'm finally moving home next month, first time since I left in 1980. I take it your in the Carolina now? I lived there for 8 years myself. A year in SC stationed out of Beaufort then 7 up in Lejeune. I still don't like your Panthers but they're better than the Clowns, Bengals, Ratbirds or Crybabies I suppose! ;)

You should stick with the blackngold Donnie. We did good this year in the draft.

Oh yes! Class of 77 here...I lucked out a couple of years ago a new radio station started up locally that only plays 70s and some late 60s music. And at least once a month they have a weekend of either "lost singles" or "one hit wonders"

Eccentric... like wobbly??? :p
Must of been the Chinese. I often wondered why cats don't hang a round Chinese restarant. We do have places that serve possum in the area.

One of my cats was born in the garage of a Chinese family (who owned a restaurant!). Instead of becoming part of an egg roll, he became my adopted son. :) lol!!

Hmm...the Browns, Bengals, Ravens, and (fill in the blank) Eagles? Or are they the Ratbirds? After the NFC Championship game, there were surely a lot of their fans fitting the latter description after McNabb's rib injury and all of his interceptions...many said they weren't even going to watch the Super Bowl :D

I have a co-worker here in Charlotte who is from Pittsburgh, and he is a very big Steelers' fan, too..We play the Steelers at Pittsburgh on 9/2 in a preseason game, and don't doubt he will probably ask off for it. I still have the '96 Steelers-Panthers game on videotape, a thriller where, after having first and goal from the one-yard line, on third down Stewart is intercepted by Chad Cota in the end zone for the last play of the game, averting a Steelers' comeback, and clinching our first playoff berth!

It should be another good season, and can't wait for September! I'm sure you will be waving your "terrible towel"? :)

Eagles=no rivary in my book. After all Donny, most don't realize that during WWII the Steelers and Eagles combined to become the Steagles for a season. I'd LOVE to see a Pennsylvania Super Bowl one year though! ;)

Ratbirds=Ravens, the ORIGINAL Cleveland (Art Modell Owned) franchaise before they ran away in the middle of the night and settled into Baltimore.

Someone caught an interception by Stewart? Surely you jest Donnie! :D

I'm in Pittsburgh this weekend where I have successfuly put down my security deposit for August's rent. Ahhhhhhh, I'll be HOME in Pittsburgh since leaving March 1980 to join the Navy. I can't wait to turn on the TV EVERY Sunday and see Steelers football. No more pre-empting for paid infomercials like they did in NJ when the Jets or Giants weren't playing. It didn't matter if the Steelers were playing nationally, they'd pre-empt their local stations anyway. How that INFURIATED me! Now I'll be down at the Heinz more with my friends tailgating and finding me a ticket. I've already got 4 to two games this season via the season ticket waiting list I'm on. That always guarantees me two games a season. Now I won't have to travel 6 hours to get to the game.

PS ... the preseason games we tend to lose. Cowher is like Noll that way, he mixes it up and plays players all over to see what he's got, not to win. As long as we don't have a scumbag team coach like the Redskins' Steve Spurrier, we'll be fine. I remember how he, fresh from his college coaching and shooting off his mouth, kept their first string in the entire preseason game to inflict injury on us. He took out Bell that year for us and he was never 100% that season. Talk about dirty ball. That is NOT what preseason is about; to INTENTIONALLY injure oppenents. Injuries occur enough, to do it intentionally cost him in the league, IMO. I'm glad he crumbled in the NFL. :)
