I'm really having a hard time changing my life for God when I am so stuck in my ways. I just signed up on this site to try to get some support from Christians who are stronger in their faith so they can help me grow. I also need people who understand what I am going through. I have a lot of struggles and bad habits and I really need to learn how to quit. :help:

Hey there,

I would be happy to try and answer any questions you may have. Paul tells us in press on in our faith and to forget the things in the past.
Philippians 12I 12. have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. 13My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead. 14I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done. 15All of us who are mature should think in this same way. And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear to you. 16But we must keep going in the direction that we are now headed.
Forget the mistakes that you have made, because they are forgiven already. Today is a new day! Paul later says in Philipians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." When we recognize our weakness and rely on God, He is faithful to help us out.
God Bless,

Hello and welcome to CF !

If you want to make progress, i'd say you should rely on God and pray much, and seek the advice of elder christians.
You'll find also much support in reading the Bible everyday (esp. in Psalms & NT but anywhere else too)
if you need particular advice feel free to PM me :)

tryingtolearn: is there a christian group on your campus? One could consider me a "new" christian as well (well, relative to those who have been practicing it since birth) and getting involved in Intervarsity on campus has been awesome for me. It's great to interact and study with fellow christians.

there are a few collegiate christian groups that I know of, IV is one of them, Campus Crusaders for Christ is another, and I'm sure there are more. The title isn't what's necessarily important, it's just getting involved -- not only will you meet people on campus, but you'll meet Christians, which can make the walk that much easier ;)

I'm really having a hard time changing my life for God when I am so stuck in my ways.

We've all struggled with that. :) The key is to accept that we cannot change your ways by our own strength. The more we try, the more we fail. But the more we surrender ourselves to Jesus, the change will come from within. :) That is the good news of Jesus Christ.

Welcome to the family! I'm sure all of us here are so happy that we have gotten a new sister in Christ! First off let me say that when you become a follower of Christ... changing is never going to be easy. You have to depend on him to get you through the rough spots in life and trust me... he will. He loves you so much and he will always come through for you! Although it may not be in the way you expect! Just be ready to accept life's challenges head on and he'll protect you! Here's a verse that might help you. Isaiah 35:4!

God Bless!

I have been a Christian for all of my life, but I know where all of you are coming from. Trying to learn, the best advice I could give you has already been given. You should find a Christian group on your campus, so that you can have a base of friends to have around you. We all struggle in our faith. It's just human nature, but with God we can find our way back. If you ever want to talk you can PM me. God Bless You and welcome to the forum!!
