  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Greetings.

It seems every day Google.com shows me something new and exciting. Today, using Google to find a particular research term that eluded me, one of the hits was this website. And from what I can tell so far, from perusing the different threads and features, etc, this might end up being a real blessing for me spiritually. I am pleased to have stumbled across this.

I don't quite know what to say about myself at this point, however -- New Guy syndrome and all that, nervous and uncertain -- but I can tell you I am a Christian, a happily married man with two children, an avid reader, and a rational skeptic. And I am Canadian.

I am looking forward to discovering whatever blessing God might have in store for me here, and looking even more forward to how I might eventually be able to serve God in glorifying him through ministry... something that has been a passion of mine now for over two years.

Glad to be here, looking forward to meeting new friends.

Hello and welcome from England. Good to have you join us. What kind of books do you read? I will look out for you in the books forum.

I'm not sure you will ever find me in the books forum -- discussing books just isn't something that appeals to me. I am an avid reader, no question, but being a part of a book club or an online equivalent? Just not my cup of tea, really. But I do read a lot. The following is some of the books I have read recently; they should serve as an illustration regarding what kind of books I read:
On Being a Christian, by Hans Küng
Dynamics of Faith, by Paul Tillich
The Problem of Pain, by C. S. Lewis
Disappointment With God, by Philip Yancey
The Hidden Jesus, by Donald Spoto
The Psychology of Religion, by Wayne E. Oates
Cheers.
