Hey everyone! Just wanted to say hello to everyone! I just recently quit smoking (recent meaning June 9 at 11:30pm) and decided to try the laser therapy approach and wanted to share my experience (and actually looking for some others with the same experience). I picked this date due to my wife and 2 year old son and father in law (who is living with us) being out of town for 10 days.. I figured this would be the best stress free time to do it and would be pleasant surprise to my wife when she got home.. (She's a non-smoker and been nagging me since we started dating over 7 years ago)
I've been wanting to quit for some time and was trying to research some of the different ways to "omit" the physical withdrawal symptoms usually associated with nicotine withdrawl. This is my first attempt to stop smoking since I started my pack and half habit some 20 years ago.. (Started when I was 16 and now 36ish for those bad at math
... )
I quit smoking on Friday night when I went to bed... I was told by the laser tech. that my last smoke needed to be at least 1 hour before the session (which was Sat. 6/10/06 at 10:00am) because they wanted me to be in withdrawl when the laser session started. I went a little further then that.. and was in 11 hour withdrawl when I finally showed up.. and slightly stressed out and aggitated from the ride over to the therapist and trying to get my wife packed and on her way on her trip. I was slightly sceptical about the laser therapy which is a form of acupuncture but read on.
I got to the therapist's office at 10:00am and was in serious need of a smoke.. my hands were slightly shaking.. I was extremely anxious, easily aggitated and perspiring from anxiety of the situation. I really felt bad for the really nice tech who was treating me due to the clammy condition I was in.. The treatment lasted about 30 min.. the first 15 min were the worst.. then suddenly everything in my body seemed to slow down.. This is only my personal experience of the situation..
She started with my right hand with the laser and I could feel a slight tingle in each area she was working on.. then she went to spots on my nose and by the time she got to my right ear.. I was feeling a sense of being "stoned".. or a total relaxation of those "jittery" muscles.. My eye lids were a little heavy and the muscles in my face were completely relaxed.. It was really a remarkable experience... by the time she worked on my left hand/nose/ear area I had stopped perspiring and completely in control and relaxed. I was amazed to be releaved of the physical withdrawl symtoms.
I'm here on day 2 and doing great! The physical withdrawl symptoms are still in check but I'm still dealing MAJOR with the triggers and mental portion.. Phillip Morris is getting a letter and a bill for this and I'll be interested in hearing back from them.. This dependency is insane and it's one of my driving forces to continue..How an American company can be allowed to continue to produce this addictive crap is beyond me.. If they are allowing this.. they should by default allow marijuana, heroine, and cocaine.. But.. such is the American way.. Keep me in your prayers and I pray I'm strong enough to keep the trigger and habit demons away.
