New 30 Year Old!

Hey everyone,

I just turned 30 today and I'm excited. Funny how I feel like a freshman, just graduated from being an overgrown 29-year-old. Any thoughts for this new decard of my life? Experiences? What to expect? What should I do?

Hi there sister, and welcome to the terrific thirties.

I think its great being in my thirty's! You are in good health and feel and still look young. However, you have gained a lot of experience by now, of life generally. Even if say, you have not yet climbed mount Everest, you will have read some wonderful books, which still linger pleasantly in your memory. You will have associated with some excellent company, with can be both stimulating, thought provoking, as well as inspiring. If you are anything like me, then you will have probably done a few goofs and dropped a few clangers along the way, but as long as you have not hurt anybody you can look back and laugh at yourself. I do not have the same ‘self-pride’ that so characterised me when I was in my early twenties. This could be to some extent because of my personal identity belonging in Christ as well… I am not my own property, but someone else’s. When people laugh at me I will laugh with them! Also, you find you insurance premiums on your car becomes so cheap it is unbelievable. I like the way I am still noticed by women (I am single) yet will be called 'sir' when I come to pay my bill in a restaurant.

I think you can really enjoy each decade of your life however. And it is certainly my intention to do so.

Just keep yourself in good shape; when you're younger, almost everyone could eat whatever and how much they wanted and not gain any weight..

Welcome to the Terrific Thirties. I didn't feel any different when I turned 30. I definately feel more mature and experienced though. It all just seemed to sneak up on me as time went on. Just take care of yourself. Its true that things that use to be fine will start to affect you now.

Happy Birthday vjaine! One of my big changes for this decade was knowing myself better. I spent a lot of my twenties trying to figure out who I was and what i wanted out of life. Oh, and I have to agree - eat well, sleep more and moisturize

I would agree with the others so far as to just taking care of yourself, eating healthy and exercising. I think the thirties are wonderful because hopefully we've all gained some insight that we wished we would of had when we were in our twenties and younger. I found for me at least that now I'm in my thirties I'm more satisified with my life instead of longing.

...and don't forget to have fun. Age is just a number.

Sigh... I turned 30 at midnight. So I am 30 now. I have realized that I dont bounce anymore when I fall. I dont feel old, but I know I sure aint young.

The thing I've noticed the most about aging is how with every year you gain knowledge through life experiences, which is a good thing! By time I'm 50 I should be a life genius!

...and I agree with others - live healthy (eat right + exercise). Most people 10 years younger than me can't keep up with me. It's a great feeling and definitely keeps me young.

I'm also a new 30 year old. I dont feel like Im 30 at all. Im not really sure that's a good thing though...
