  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone never been married? Sometimes I feel, here I am 31 and never married, heck I have never been in true love (and I was engaged before). The sad thing is that I have had a crush on actor Tom Cavanagh (3 years) longer than I have ever had a relationship! See my ex had hurt me so. Which is easy to do when you are as sensitive as I am. Plus I beleive that the reason that having a little crush on a TV star is easier! But some times I feel like I am still in high school or something seeing that I still have these little crushes.
Dating is hard, very hard. This is how I view it. If you see a house that you really like, I mean it has everything, you can get some kind of loan somewhere and get that house. But you can not "get a loan" to get a guy of your dreams. I do NOT beleive in settling at all. I also feel that the older I get the much harder it is for me to find that guy. So I am more and more getting set on my ways.... being single, never married!

I've never been married either. I was in a relationship where at the time, I thought we would have ended up at the altar, but didn't (PRAISE JESUS).

So ((((HUGS))))) to you my sister in Christ, for even though things may see hard and bleak right now, there is ALWAYS a blessing in every tough situation that we go through. Find that blessing in your situation right now, for it may be the very lesson that you need in order to move on to thenext step in your path.

 Tappanga,
I don't know about you but doesn't it feel as time goes on that you are getting "more set on your ways" about being single. What I mean is that are you getting used to being single and all. I feel if that is what The Lord has in store for me then :amen: ! Heck, after all He knows what is best for us all! I ONLY live my life for HIM....Whatever Jesus says goes, end of story!! Sometimes singleness can be frustrating but all and all I love it....more time for the Lord!!! (My roommate is single too and we talk A LOT and pray to The Lord).:)

I **completely** agree. All these threads about being choosy or singleness being lonely... well I agree, but I find myself not missing dating that much. Granted I miss the friendship and the fellowship and, well, basically having someone to do things with, and I start to miss dating. But then (and here's the part you're talking about) I think about all the GOOD things about being single (I've already listed some out for you on another thread), and how I have certain places for everything in my home and (although I'm not crazy or OCD or anything) how bent out of shape I get if someone throws away a can instead of putting it in the recycle bin NEXT to the trash. Then I realize that singleness is GREAT!

Case in point: I just came back from business meetings in Vegas and during the breaks, everyone called their spouses and checked in. I just looked around and kind of smiled to myself.

And yes, maybe I am choosy with whom I want (and whom I believe the Lord wants me to have), but I'm okay with that. I'll be spending MY LIFE with someone, I won't settle for second best. That doesn't mean my wants are through the roof. I've prayed about my future husband and God has told me that I will have one, but I must learn to **wait** until He is ready for me to be married. And I'm fine with that. (Well, almost. ;) )

WOW. I thought I was the only one in the world that has never been married. lol I am 33 and never been married, and I also feel like I am getting set in my ways. I like being able to go when and where I want, without checking in. Next year I am going to be taking classes to be a foster parent, so then I will lose some of my freedom...but I am excited about that.

I have recently started to go back to church, and now im taking classes to join my new church. That is keeping me busy. GOD knows whats best for all of us, so we should just let him work on us. Prepare us for whatever is ahead of us in our lives. Too bad you all dont live in St. Louis, then we could all hang out together sometimes. It is nice to know that we are not alone in the single life. Have a great weekend everyone...Wayne.

Okay, I guess I'll check in as well. I'm 40-something and I've never been married. I became a single parent at 19, surrendered my life to Christ at 27, and spent the last umpteen years becoming the best saved single parent I could be, mentoring other young single parents in and out of the church, and expanding my gift as a writer for Christ. Yes, I'm set in my ways, comfortable with myself, and I must say, at times I do enjoy the quiet moments I have spent living alone. BUT (didn't ya just know one was coming?) But, I still desire to be married, and I still believe that God will one day bless me with a husband.

Hi everyone!

I'm 38 yrs old, never been married...but I have had a couple of serious relationships. At least they were serious to me...:) How they felt about it is another thing altogether! No, seriously...I'm content most of the time in the fact that God has my life in His hands and He will bring me to my husband or vice versa, when the time is right.

@ Wayne...that's an awesome name...it was my dads. He passed away 4 years ago, so whenever I meet someone by that name I always have to say what a great name it is!
