I recently bought a wireless laptop for work. we have a server and from the server we have a wireless router. My laptop connects to that wireles router so it has a much different IP address than my desktop computer has.

So I can access the networked printers from my desktop, but i'm having a problem connecting to those printers from my laptop since it goes through the wireless router.

How do I get my computer to see those printers?

How do I get my computer to see those printers?
First, what kind of server? File server? DNS server? Porn server?
Second, are these printers networked through a NIC card? Do they hook straight into the ethernet line or into another computer? Are they connected, perhaps to your PRINT server? Is this the server you were talking about?
Do you see any other computers from your laptop, or shared files/folders in your network places?
Have you submerged your printers underwater or lit them on fire recently?
Is your wireless router the only one?
Make sure that they are all on the same subnet. That might help.
Also, CHECK YOUR FIREWALL. Enable NetBIOS. Try setting them to the same workgroup/domain. I don't know how often I find that that is the problem. Turn it off for a few minutes if you want to check it.

Sorry I'm full of questions, but I'm trying to figure out exactly how the communication pathway is laid out.

The laptop connects to the wireless router. Is that connected to the modem? What is the desktop/s and/or printers connected to?
And if you need any instruction on my mumbo jumbo let me know.

As long as they are all physically connected (wireless or otherwise), there shouldn't be too much difficulty.

Check that your laptop is using the same workgroup as the desktop PCs - Windows XP will not recognise computers in different workgroups. A quick way to check is in System Properties (hold the Windows Key and hit Pause/Break, then select "Computer Name" tab).

Make sure all the digits in your IP addresses are the same, save the last group - i.e. all 192.168.1.xxx or similar.

Also, check the subnet mask. It should be 255.255.255.0 for all your machines.
