  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I like using Netscape's browser because it seems to run better than IE on my system. However when in Christian Forums and am replying to posts the smilies choices are smeared off to the right. Is there a setting that I can change that will allow me to view all the smilie choises?
Thanks for your help.

Try posting this in the Suggestions, Bugs, and Help Forum, I do believe there is a fix for this, but they would know best over there.....

Yes I too had troubles with IE. I just use plain old Mozilla, and Firefox is good as well. Netscape (at least after checking up on the sites I work with) is used less than Mozilla at this point.

Thanks folks for the info but you are not answering my basic question and that is this, Why when using Netscape the smilies choises are smeared off to the right? In all other uses of this browser it runs great, but in Christian Forums there is this one glitch. The glitch does not appear to be a problem in IE, but IE always gives me a message that it has preformed an Illegal action and will be shut down. Netscape does not do this.
Is there a setting that needs to be changed so that this glitch is fixed for Netscape in Christian Forums.

Hey Palatka44,

Excuse my thickheadedness... could you post a screenshot demonstrating your smeared smilies? Sometimes a picture is worth...

Is your "view" setting at something other than 100%, like say, 70% or 130% zoom?

I'd also be concerned w\IE crashing like that. What OS are you on?

Yes a screenshot would help a bit in this situation, from what you're describing (at least I think) I feel this might be just an issue with the browser more so than anything else at this point.

Windows 98 se and I've tried different view settings and I still get the same effect on the smilies.

So how do you do a screenshot?

Screen Print & Capture 32 3.5 ---->2.71MB

OR

Screen Capture for Windows

There are two options for screen capturing on windows. Both of these copies a picture of the screen to the clipboard, and then must be pasted in another program to be seen. The first one will copy the whole desktop (this will copy the whole visible screen) and the second one will copy just the active window (this will copy only the part of the screen containing the program you are currently working on.

To copy the whole desktop picture follow these instructions.

Make your desktop how you want it to appear in the picture, and then press the Print Screen key (it is located in the upper right corner of the keyboard directly above the arrow keys. (this action will copy the picture to your clipboard, the clipboard is a place in memory that stores information that has been recently copied)

Open up any image editing program and paste the image by using the paste shortcut, (hold down the Control button and press the V button). For this part you can use any editing program you desire, Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Image Composer.

Edit, change, and save your image.

To copy only the desired active window follow these instructions.

Make your current active window how you want it to appear in your picture, hold down the Alt key and press the Print Screen key. (this action will copy the window into the clipboard)

Open up any image editing program and paste the image by using the paste shortcut (hold down the Control button and press the V button). For this part you can use any editing program you desire, Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Image Composer.

Edit, change, and save your image.

a little late... found some notes from awhile back, was looking for a "better than basic windows screencap" utility. For what it's worth :

HoverSnap v0.8
http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

HoverSnap is a a free handy snapshot tool with jpg, png, bmp and gif support.HoverSnap can take snapshots of the full screen, active window or a selected area. It can even capture layered windows (alphablended ones under 2K / XP). You can even FTP upload your screenshots !

You can set up the capture folder / filename and format.
You can reduce the capture size.
Auto-generate filename option will add the time stamp (date/time) to your filename in order to be able to take several captures without having to change the filename.
Optional sound when capture is done.
HoverSnap is FREE for personal use only !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
UltraSnap --- $25 US
Very good product...
http://www.mediachance.com/ultrasnap/index.html

UltraSnap was originally written for internal purpose, to speed up process of creating multimedia presentations, manuals and web pages and to simplify sending digital photos by e-mail. Because it performed beyond any expectations we decided to make it available for public.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
TNT Screen Capture --- $45 US
Another cadillac utility (others will get you there for less, but the leather seats are nice)
http://www.helpandmanual.com/tnt.htm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I can find some other notes, and I can finish it, I'll post a homemade (very basic, but free) screencap utility...

Thought that you could load an image on the page here. Looks like you have to have it up on the web somewhere, then link to it, or look down the page a little on the "reply to thread" page... Additional Options... Attach Files...

Testing the last option here...

OK... that's the ticket, it werkz <=^)

I'm running netscape 7.1 and have the same problem with the smiles. At the bottom of the smiles is a link that says [more]. Click this and a little window with all the smiles and a few extras will pop up. That's how I got around the problem, but there may actually be a way to solve it, too. I'll work on getting a screenshot to post.
