In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Folks,
One more recommendation for tonight is the New English Translation Bible. Its available online and as a HTML Help File for free. Its awesome because it includes extensive notes that explain why the translators chose to translate a passage a certain way. I don't mean just a few notes - I mean thousands upon thousands. :)

CH Dodd was the senior editior of the NEB and the whole Bible and Apocrypha was published in 1970 by Oxford and Cambridge. It was sponsered by the Church Council of Great Britain. Unfortunately it is now out of print. It was to radical for evangelicals, but the English usage is fantastic. It has been my Bible since high school and I am 50.
I have several of the Barclay commentaries, and I like them.
