He wouldn't. He didn't. They were the people of Cain's lineage. See the genealogy before this story in Gen 5.

If this is angels having sex than you create a host of problems. (no pun intended).

Besides, this is all ficticious mythology anyhow. Don't take it too serious. The angel/sex view was made up by horny men in the first century BC in the book of Enoch.

The text in Genesis simply mentions "sons of God", there are two schools of thought, one that says that these are righteous men and others who say they were angels. Later literature, such as that of Enoch elaborates on the story.

I don't read the early chapters of Genesis as literal history, but as a mythological/pre-historic prologue establishing a narrative setting into which Israel's own national narrative eventually finds itself. Note: This doesn't mean I don't regard it as sacred, holy and inspired (I do), just that I don't believe it's literal history.

If I recall correctly, the "sons of God" are descendants of Seth, whereas "daughters of men" are descendants of Cain. At least according to some interpretations.

The short answer is that we do not know what the nature of the Nephalim were. In truth we have an extremely limited understand of what an "Angel' is, other than a Messenger or doer of God's Will. The "old" Church's ideas of angels are largely based on how the church fathers wished to separated the things and nature of God from the things and nature of man. We know there is indeed a division, but no one in this life can accurately draw that line. This includes those who framed out the artwork we associate with angels, and subsequently the nature or personalities we associate with said art work.

Obviously given the account in Genesis and other places in scripture "Angels" are not always the angels we paint them out to be. (The four horsemen of the Apocalypse are angels as well)

That is the simple version of what I believe it was intended to mean. One can carefully compare and contrast Seth and Cain's genealogies and see the same story played out in Gen 5.

I addressed this a long time ago. The Nephilim were the offspring of Seth's descendants and Cain's descendants.

Angels can't have sex because:

1. their spiritual bodies probably do not have the capability to have sex (sex and food are distinct (1 Cor. 6:13). Just because they can eat food doesn't mean they can have sex)

and

2. God would never allow that.

Since He considered intermarrying among His people abominable (a manifestation of His zeal for His people), I doubt that He would even think of allowing intermarrying between angels and humans.

3. Furthermore, angels don't have the ability to do whatever they desire unless granted by God. Angels can't do anything without God's authorization. This is because of obligation and fear (James 2:19). We see multiple instances of obedient fallen angels in both OT and NT.



But how can this be? Gen. 6 says there were giants. Yeah, so?

Genesis indicates that people lived long lives. This is, presumably, because of "the waters which were above the expanse". So it's possible that this benefit also allowed them to reach great heights.

Only the depraved and perverse would accept such a abominable doctrine, that is, angels having sex with women.

The proper interpretation is surely the descendants of Seth and Cain intermarrying.
