Now, before you all start bashing Neopets, it is actually a pretty neat and creative website. I mean, it took a lot of time, people, and effort to make it, so at least give it a chance. Now..

Neopets is an online virtual pet community, where you can battle with other users, shop for neofood, own your own shop, feed your pet...it would take a million posts for me to describe it.

Plus, right now, there is a new and exciting plot happening! Check it out! ;)

Neopets drove me nuts after a while ... I got kicked off because I had quote, "Religious Propoganda" in my shop description ... as in ... I said something to the effect of "have fun shopping and God bless" ... they banned me right when I was on top of the game (about 2 to 3 years ago) ... I was in the top 10 Neopets users at that time.

Yes, it's fun ... but I warn you ... if you want to keep your Neopoints, don't advertise your Christianity.

I thought it was a little over the top, though ... I'd had thousands of people through my shop, and then some random mod thinks saying 'God bless' is bad enough to ban someone on ... I don't get it ... they should have warned me ... it's not like I was on there to create dissention ....

It *is* a fun site, though, if you have lots of time on your hands.

The reason that neopets frowns on christianity is because the website is owned by another church, and it's not a christian church. You can (and probably should) ask you parents to research the owners of neopets.com. They will find that it is most definitely ran by members of scientology, a 'new age' religion that preaches the non-existence of God.

ahuman is exactly right, kudos. On May 28th McDonald's will begin releasing Neopets happy meals and might kid meals with Neopets toys and trading cards in them. I've contacted McDonald's to ask if they are aware that they are promoting the cult of scientology. I think the chances of getting an answer would be greater the more people that were concerned about this. I personally intend to boycott McDonald's if they go through with this.

People don't understand Neopets and what they are trying to do. The scientologists are going to have 200 million kids under their thumbs before very long that will do what they are taught to do on line, which is to hoard money at anyone's expense and to use violence to get what you want.

This really worries me.

You can't fairly judge what a person (or a group of people) does based on what their religion is. I actually became a member of that website nearly 3 years ago now, and I must say that not once in the several times of activity that I've "played" there have I seen any kind of religious indications at all. I checked it out in pretty great length just out of curiosity, too. So please don't jump to nasty premature conclusions. I'm sure you could probably pick it apart and find something or other to back up that opinion. For that matter you can turn anything around when it's convenient. I don't want to discount something you may have seen as evidence, but I just haven't seen it and I look at that site from a totally neutral standpoint -- the average end-user. I know plenty of other adults who are regulars who enjoy it for what it is... cheap, simple, fun & clean ("kid-safe" even) entertainment. If you have some facts that might sway that other than just the basis of what their religion is, bring it on, I would, sincerely, love to know.

And I just have to mention in reply to the last post and what many people seem to take issue with that it's incredibly easy to become "addicted" to just about anything on the internet... from forum posting, to email reading, to chatting with buddies on chat services, to playing games on websites. Not trying to critisize at all, as I have been just as guilty of this in the past, but have learned from my experiences. I just know of too many people who think things like this in general are "bad" or "evil" but the real problem is the human factor and the lack of self control, or worse - the desire for such selfishness.

Humans are so prone to never take the blame for things, but to constantly seek for somewhere else to place the blame. There's nothing to be worried about here except for ourselves. Keep a little self control, and you'll be just fine. ;)

Anyway, back to my point. They're no cult, they're just a business who has done well for themselves. I certainly can't blame them for that.
