  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Need voice advice.

Hey, I have been told I have a very pretty voice, but I have trouble hitting the right note...I know it is because what i hear and what i sing are two different things, but in my head it sounds right...anybody have a few suggestions on how i can start hearing and singing the right notes? I love singing and want to be in the church choir or something and I really want to improve it...

Sit in front of the keyboard.. With it on, of course, and just one key at a time... Make a "Ahhh" noise with your voice, changing it until it sounds like the tone of that key... if you know the keys on your keyboard, this will help you.
I know the notes, but since my problem is hearing and repeating it right, how can i develop my ear better. I sound great in my head, but i am told i am always a note or two off every once in awhile.

just keep practicing!!! I am a music major and struggled through ear training because of the same problem. I could hear the notes that I had to sing in my head for my sight-singing tests, but didn't sing the right notes. I spent about an hour daily and have developed near-perfect pitch. Like Lyle said, sit at a piano and play the note and sing it until you get it using an "ahh" sound. Once you get this, play the note and then sing it back in about 5 sec. to see if you can remember it. Then tell yourself to sing any note, an "A" for instance, and then play it and see how close you were. Good luck!
