This really doesn't have anything to do with the Singles ministry on cf, but you guys are so awesome and compassionate that I was hoping I could offer up an emergency prayer concern.
We are going to be closing our family business. Well, last year my grandfather loaned us $5k to pay off some bills. We're still paying him back (with interest...
So, when he found out we were closing the shop, he immediately called my mother (he is her father) and asked if he would get his money back. I guess I just don't understand it. He is family. I know that if I had the money (which he does as he is worth millions) I would have given it to my child. $5k was alot to us, but that's play money for him. Nonetheless, we were willing to work on his terms and pay him back monthly plus the accrued interest. But now he knows we're going out of business and he is demanding we give him the balance in full which is over $2k. We don't want to file for bankruptcy and we think we can get enough from our collectibles to satisfy the outstanding debts, but not the two-thousand some-odd dollars we still owe my grandfather.
So, anyway, he calls me at work today demanding to know the phone number for the motel off our interstate exit. I could tell he was drunk (he's an alcoholic) and he started talking about how we needed to get together, drink alot of beer, and go over the books because he wants to know if we can salvage the business. We've already decided to close the doors. It's the only feasible option and we feel that is the direction God is leading us in. Not to mention, the last place I want to be is in a motel room with my drunk grandfather so he can chastize me for all my mistakes. He does nothing but tell my mother what a screw up I am (only he doesn't say "screw....eh, you get the point) and how it's my fault the business is closing and how I've been divorced and all this. Let's not focus on how he has been married three times!
The real bummer is, I have Bible study tonight and I told him this and he insisted in a rather harsh tone that I "drop everything" so we can have this meeting. Quite frankly, I don't see why he thinks he's part of this company anyway. So, to make a long story short, just pray for my sanity as this has been a very stressful week as it is and I don't need his junk to top it all off.
