  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Need to get out of the "I'm a sinner mind-set"....

I need prayer that I claim my freedom in Christ... I know that the Bible says that "Who Christ sets free, he is free indeed", but my mind is full of sin, though my actions 99.9% are not... and I'm sick of being so concious of how unworthy I am, how dirty I am... and need to claim freedom that Jesus died for on that cross for me. I seem to be going on a roller coaster in my Christian life. One day I'm totally depressed or maybe opressed is the word.... and then the next, I know who I am in Christ, and nobody and nothing can get me down... I want to be stable in my walk with Christ so that I won't be swayed in any way.

Oh, how I know how you feel!! I have the bad pattern of becoming emotional about my faith late at night and then feeling cold-hearted and apathetic about it when I first wake up in the mornings in contrast...and I get so angry and sick of my sinful self and am tempted to just give up trying to be who God would have me to be...

And it's then that He reminds me, with that gentle, inaudible whisper in the back of my mind...

"When you pass through the waves, I will be with you...the waves will not overcome you...though you may walk through the flames, the fire will not consume you...I have called you by name...You are MINE..."

I will pray, most assuredly, but ask God to remind you who you are in Him when you're feeling defeated...and I promise...He will. :)

I pray that you remember how free Christ has made you. You're a new creation. We are not bound by the penilty of sin. We sin, yes, but it no longer brings us the damnation that it did before. We are FREE!!!! Just remind yourself, out loud if you need to, that you're free!!!!! Take hope in that. If you are about to sin, just remember..you're free. If you have sinned, repent truely of it and not a second later God FORGETS. If he can forgive you what right do you have not to forgive yourself. Run the race as Paul puts it. If you stumble, so what? Get up and keep going. God loves you sister, REGARDLESS of if you stumble or not. Remember, YOU'RE FREE.

I too feel this way sometimes...a lot of the time, unfortunately. I will definitely be praying for you, and here's something that I (try) to keep in mind..."Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1-2) Other than that, I really can't add anything to what the others have already said, as it's something I need to remind myself of every day as well. But again, I will be praying for you :)

His peace, Andrea
