• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Sorry everyone, I wanted to wait until I had more news to share with you all. As of today we are settling into life at a new church. This church has been so welcoming I can't believe how much different they are. This church has gone out of their way to make our son Ben feel welcomed and part of the Sunday School Program. They have found a few Jr. High Youth members who are like his 1 on 1 and help him during S.S. (Sunday School). I am so happy about the way Ben has been enjoying himself and has been so far (and please pray) not had any outburst. I have already had my Certification transfered to the new dist. Right now this new church does not have many Lay Speakers so I think I will be quite busy once they find a place for me. Right now we are on hold as far as membership due to that they ask that all new members go through a membership class even if your transferring from another Methodist church. As since the classes are being help on Monday nights and I was still working, we were not able to make them. So this coming fall we will be doing that and become members. :prayer:Please keep my family and I in your prayers and God Bless You!:amen:

My non-verbal DD is classified as PDD-NOS and we cannot go because of lack of support, as well.

How old is your child? I'm sorry that this is happening to you as well, You and your family are in my prayers. I pray God leads you to a church that will give you the support you need.

She is 13 and a half. I think they are put off by me, too. I have AS. Thank you for the prayers.

I wish chruches would understand and want to help all children and their families know the love of God and try to work with the families of special need children. It's sad to think that a church turns a child away just because it might take a little more effort on their part to make sure the child is accepted and loved. It's Sad!
I was so happy yesterday at church. Before the kids go to Sunday School, they all start in the church service, and are there for the children's message and a few opening songs. The first song we sang yesterday was "Come, Now is the Time to Worship" and I looked over to my son and he was singing right along with us and clapping his hands. He was enjoying himself and I was so happy, and then when I picked him up from Sunday School, he came out and said that they learned about God and that he loved going to Sunday School. And then all day long he was still singing the opening song. The church is holding their VBS next week and he will be going everyday from 9 to noon. I'm praying that he is able to join in and have fun while he is learning about the love that the Lord has for him.

You are so right about churches not providing for people with other needs. Years ago in school I wrote a paper about the deaf being one of the populations of people that do not get the ministry they need in most churches. It just seems as if one does not meet some type of standard then they are forgotten. I dunno.
Even Jesus stopped His sermon when I'm sure He was tired and hungry to minister children. He told the disciples to leave them alone for such is the kingdom of Heaven.
So my question is why are the churches not ministering then to All believers? Perhaps because their services would not be as nice and tidy as many people seem to feel they ought to be:sigh:

You will love and be helped a lot by watchman nee's book "the normal christian church life" ...if you can get it and , well, are able to read it.
try to get the older printing by christian fellowship publishers, not the one by living stream publishers which is a perverted publisher(they were bought off and changed the words substantially, for profit).
