  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I need help understanding the logic of God. To me, God is completely illogical and posibly even anti-logical (if that's a word). To me it seems illogical to expect anybody to love you when you will not speak with them, when you will not show yourself to them, and when you will give them nothing to know you by except a book.

Well

First off, God has not given us just a book . . :) The bible is not the only way God reveals Himself to man . .

Jesus is the head of a body, a visible body . .and Church set high ontop a gigantic and massive rodk cliff . . God speaks to us through His Church . .

His Church existed for centuries before the book known as the bible was assembled . . the Early Christians did not have the book you have today . . they had the Old Testament and the writings of the Early Church authors . . but it was not till the end of the 4th century and the beginning of the 5th that the CHURCH decided what was to be considered canonical scripture and what wasn't . .

The CHURCH is the pillar and foundation of truth (as per the scriptures) . .

The Church has many people who have seen Jesus, have spoken to Him who tell us Him . . that most of us have not seen Him or heard Him speaking to us like someone sitting over a cup of coffee does not mean anything . .

We hear Him speak to us in our hearts . . we feel Him within us drawing us to Him . .

Does it seem illogical that God works in this way?

Well, think, what good did it do Adam and Eve that they always, every evening, walked with God in the coolness of the evening, seeing Him, talking with Him . .

Did that keep them from sinning? Did that make them love Him so much that they would never disobey Him?

No . . so the answer is not to see Him with your eyes, or hear Him with your ears ..

The answer is to trust Him as a little child . .trusting, submitting . .

And to submit to His will even though you do not understand it and trust . .

He will not dissappoint you! If you want to understand more about the visible Church Jesus established and gave to all who believe, let me know!

Peace in Him!

It looks like your church,if you attend church, hasn't educated you too well about Christianity.Jesus told His disciples that when He left the earth,He would send the Holy Spirit to assist them.Once a Christian is baptised with the Holy Spirit, then they do receive communication from God and that is how He shows Himself to His children or as you put it ,gives them something to know Him by.So your problem with God exists because you haven't prayed for the Holy Spirit to come into your life.Check out John 3:3-9.But don't stop there.Keep reading the New Testament so you can see what else Christians are supposed to do to prepare themselves for a personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.

The only way you're going to know God is through prayer, and as therelittle flower said, reading the bible. I have an earthly father, but he's not really a father to me, and so I was told by my brother (same situation) that God has a father heart and wants to show me that father heart. So I prayed, and I spoke to God as if he was my father. I prayed "Daddy, you know Im really struggling at school, I could do with some help!" On the cross Jesus cried "Abba Father" which means Daddy.
Your post shows that you have a zeal to find God. None of us can tell you how God works, it is something that you should find out for yourself in your personal walk for god. God will reveal himself to you, he'll speak to you, and he'll always be there for you - all you need to do is ask. If you play your part and put the effort into reading the bible and crying out to him in prayer, Ill guarantee he'll be there and answer back.
Read the Psalms and watch how people cried out to God in prayer. Read the gospels to see how Jesus spent time with his father, and then start to read the Old Testament to see how God works and operates.

When it comes down to it, none of our works will save us, it will be our relationship with God. I pray that you'll find an everlasting awesome experience with God.

God Bless, metal.
