Please help me,I really need it. I keep trying to tell myself there is too much proof their is a God, but my mind doesn't want to let go of the fact, is how does He hear all of us talking...I know the Bible states He is all powerful, but my mind doesn't seem to grasp it and i need encouragement. Plus my mind is always struggling with evolution, I don't mean too, but there is so much out there and parts of it sound insane, but so many people are for it...I know it boils down to faith, but I'm scared, because I can't seem to snap out of this although I keep praying and praying.

You have two natures: The soulish nature and the Spiritual. The soulish nature is rebellious, clamors for attention. The Spiritual Nature is in tune with God through Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. When you became a Christian you received the Spiritual Nature. That old soulish, sinful nature didn't appreciate that, and set out to do battle. That battle will continue for as long as you live. Which one is in control depends upon you walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Do that, and you will receive a Spiritual answer to your questions. That old soulish nature will be in retreat.

I can probably help with the evolution part. My dad has done a lot of studies into creation vs. evolution and I also went to a bible college which spent a year going over stuff like that.

Some things about God you won't fully be able to grasp, because we are human. Thus God gave us faith, because He knew that we'd never be able to understand certain things.

However, on the evolution part. If you're really interested I can get in touch with you via PM or I'll give you my email address as well.

About your question -- think long term. Don't expect everything to suddenly come to you and work perfectly. On evolution -- do you really want to spend that much of your thinking time figuring out something that hasn't been resolved in hundreds of years? Try to narrow your thoughts, and direct them toward where you want to head.

I think it's best to consider different explanations with the proper humility, rather than trying to ardently hold fast to something that we can't know for sure. Many people (both Christians and not) incorrectly try to group things into Science or God categories. However, they are completely compatible as long as we remember that it doesn't have to be an either/or question.

Here are two examples:

Evolution (Science) and Creationism (Bible) can coexist because God orchestrated whatever forms of evolution actually took place. Our roots all trace back to Adam (or Noah's family after the flood), yet skin color has adapted to weather conditions in Africa vs. Northern Europe. There are probably inaccuracies in both our interpretations of scripture and of today's secular theories of evolution that cause the incompatibility.

Another false either/or dilemma is Old Earth (Science) and Young Earth (Bible). There are several explanations in which these two could be compatible. If the Earth is very old, it simply means that the day and year calculations that people try infer from the Bible are not literal (like many other scriptural passages). If the Earth IS young, it could just have been created with built-in maturity - much like it can be interpreted that Adam was created as a man, not a baby.

There is nothing like truth to dispel deception. Nothing to fear, God is all around and is evident in His creation.

Check out the link to this page. It is to a movie called "God of Wonders". I actually own the DVD (it's very inexpensive). It's also on Youtube. It covers various aspects of undeniable evidence of God in creation. You can watch each chapter on the Web for free. Each chapter is reasonably short and gives an excellent presentation of God in nature.

You can watch a bit of it and come back, or watch each chapter. Some of the chapters are about birds, hummingbirds, lightning, what evolution basically teaches about a "beginning' (it seems ridiculous as it is presented), the sun/stars, the universe, snow crystals, seeds, dna, sea creatures, butterflies, man, justice, love, energy and light. I would recommend it to anyone and the beauty of it gets me teary seeing it.

If God can build all of these things into nature in all of its enormous power, how hard is it to hear each of our prayers, and to watch over our wellbeing, etc.

I'd love to hear what your report is after seeing this!

Jenny30,
Please don't make the assumption that your relationship with God depends solely on the issue of whether or not you believe in evolution. While I freely admit to being an Old Earth Creationist, there are Christians who embrace evolution and still possess intimacy with the Lord. In the end, would you really consider it a primary issue? Salvation doesn't rest on believing in creationism or evolution, but embracing the gospel message. Also, don't expect your finite mind to grasp everything about an infinite God as He chooses to keep certain things secret and hidden - Deut. 29:29.

Plus my mind is always struggling with evolution, I don't mean too, but there is so much out there and parts of it sound insane, but so many people are for it.
The fact that so many people believe in evolution doesn't prove it is true. In fact, it could be considered an argument against its being true.

Jesus said that the way that leads to eternal life is narrow and few people find it. That means that most people are lost and according to the Bible they have been blinded by Satan so they won't understand the gospel.
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
(2 Corinthians 4:3-4 ESV)

If Satan can blind them to keep them from believing the gospel couldn't he also blind scientists to keep them from seeing the truth of creation?

There is much evidence that the popular concept of evolution is false but because of their spiritual blindness many scientists ignore this evidence or find ways to explain it away. Here are two good sites where you can find out about some of this evidence:

Many Christians believe in evolution, that has nothing to do with a belief in God. As you learn more about science you will see that the evidence is definitely in favor for a Creator, the Big Bang presumes this fact. For evolution to be a working theory, life must already be in existence for it to be considered, in other words, evolution is a theory of how life adapts to survive, not how it came into existence...evolution cannot create only evolve existing life. So, if evolution is true, creation can still be true as well, in reality the Christian does not need evolution to be false, it is possible for it to be true, we would just have to come to different conclusions on the interpretation of certain biblical passages (like those in the first chapters of Genesis). The bible and evolution can both be true, there is actually a great many of Christians who consider themselves Theistic Evolutionists as well as believers in the view of Biologos (see Francis S. Collins) which believes in the harmony of the bible, Christianity and current scientific understandings and findings.

On apologetics for prayer and how God can hear us all at once I recommend you listen to these rare radio archives of C.S. Lewis on the subject, very enlightening (ironically, Part 2 is on evolution so you may want to check that out too):

Throughout all the centuries, there have been always true believers, who kept the Word of God in its originality, because they appreciated it, and also feared God.

God cares enough for his Word, to make sure that it is kept in its originality.

The moral law, the ten commandments, are coded on the heart of every man, his conscience. They must be created, from somebody who is moral.

In all of creation, we see expressed a thought, wisdom and purpose, which shows, that there is somebody who thinks – God.

The Bible is a historical book, with recorded historical events.

If Jesus is the Word, how can the Bible not be true?

John 1:1-3, Jeremiah 1:12, Isaiah 55:10,11, Acts – 5:38, 39, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 1 Corinthians 15:5, 6, 30, 31, Matthew 5:18, 24:35, Psalm 119:89, Psalm 138:2, Romans 1:19, 20, 2:14, 15, Luke 1:1-4, 2:1-3, 16:17, Revelation 22:18,19, Matthew 2:6, 4:24,25, 7:16-20, 9:26,35, 11:20-23, 12:33, 12:40-42, 19:4-6, Luke 6:43, 44, Ezra 1:4, Hebrews 2:3,4, Acts 2:22, 14:3, 16:26-30, Mark 16:17, 20, John 2:11,23, 3:2, 4:48, 6:2, 10:25, 38, 11:45, 14:11, 20:30,31, Luke 10:13, 11:30-32,51, 12:1, Deuteronomy 28:64, Ezekiel 36:24, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7, 53:1-12, John 7:38, 39, Romans 8:16, John 3:5-8, Romans 5:5, 9:15,17,25,27, 1 John 2:27, 3:9, 24, 4:13, 1 Corinthians 2:4,5, James 5:17,18, 2 Corinthians 12:12

for people struggling with A) Believing in God or how He exsists or how He operates, i know its sometimes hard, but to read His word prayfully will help.

My argument for God is this, you have a building, you must have a builder, a painting, a painter, a scupture, a sculpter, creation, A BIG BANG? No i don't think so, Creator sounds better in that spt, A race that is far more intelligent then other created beings with the ability to love, plan, reason, with some moral consience that is directly directed at the law in the bible, EVOLUTION? naw my mind says no. altho it always has the ability to question.

Some bible verses that come to mind which will be good to meditate on and think about, and God willing you will understand to some degree...

2 Peter 3:8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like a day.

So what i find when i meditate upon this is I get a sense that:

God is in eternity, not time. We are in time, He is not. C.S Lewis puts it like this. Its as if you were the only person in the universe God ever created, for everyone.

i strongly suggest putting some thought to this scripture!

Also when a question in your mine arises to attack the truth, let it. The truth WILL stand. And then go and seek your answer, don't fight the question, thats what i do if i find myself questioning christianity, and it can be scarey at times when a daunting question rears its head, but relax and know the He is God! only two months in the faith but this is what i have picked up from christian books and expirience.

EDIT: The Big Bang may have happend but that was God clicking his finger so to speak

Concerning evolution, what does John 3:16 say? Does it say, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, and does not believe in evolution, should not perish but have everlasting life"? Or, does it say, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, and evolution, should not perish but have everlasting life"?

The answer to both questions is Absolutely Not! Your belief in or disbelief in evolution is not a requirement of salvation.
