• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Guys, im really stressed out. I am constantly doubting all day long. I get to a point where I just wanna get on the internet and surf but feel very convicted cause I get more enjoyment out of it rather than bible study, or something. I constantly question myself all the time, it makes me just wanna leave the faith cause it seems as if there will be more piece in not believing, but I know that there will be judgment for those not in Christ. I need help. I freak out when im sitting here and ask myself, “if I am truly a Christian , then I would love Gods word more, or I would be more enthused about Jesus” I don’t know if its cause I doubt so much that it takes the feelings and joys of salvation away, or if its just really me. I am bombed with “what ifs” all day long. They over take me. I am trying to live as if He saved me, but these doubts are just so strong.

Our carnal minds will be distracted and wander off track sometimes. This is our minds, not our heart and spirit.
Our minds are not instantly renewed when we get saved. Our spirit is, but not our minds. Our minds have to be renewed day by day by reading the bible. The bible washes our minds.Jesus is the Truth and the Truth sets us free.
I went through a period of time wishing I was never born because I thought I was hopelessly lost and doomed to eternal torment .At times I thought at least the unbelievers have a time of superficial peace because they do not know their end,yet I have no peace .Then I would be horrified at the thoughts coming in my mind, these and many other thoughts seemingly against my will.Yet it was all due to the torment and suffering I was going through,it was not my heart and spirit. It was my carnal mind trying to figure out how to stop the relentless suffering.Of course our carnal minds cannot stop our suffering and cannot submit to the things of God on our own.We can do nothing without Jesus.Jesus is our all powerful gentle merciful and compassionate Healer. He is annointed to heal the broken hearted and deliver the captive and set at liberty them who are bruised..All we can do is come to Jesus.Look to Jesus from whence our help comes from.Make a choice to turn and cry out to Jesus in prayer and read the bible daily. Our carnal mind will look all over for ways to end our suffering . Our carnal minds by nature do not trust Jesus,we are filled with doubts, even the disciples had doubts.Yet our spirit and heart does know and trust Jesus. So we choose to turn to Jesus knowing he will never cast us out even with all our frailties and weaknesses.Jesus died for us while we were still His enemies. He saves us while we are still sinners.Jesus died for us because He knows we need a Saviour and His love and compassion and mercy and forgiveness brought Him to the cross.
We are not christians because our hearts are perfect and our minds already renewed.
We are christians because Jesus died for us and rose again and gave us the measure of faith and we believe in Him.We come to Him because we believe in Him and Jesus said he that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.
Even when we suffer we look to Jesus from whence our help comes.
Jesus understands our weaknesses and infirmities and that we can do nothing without Him.
Jesus gives us peace and joy and love.We cannot gain these things ourselves.
Jesus says come to Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. That is His promise.
Jesus said he that believeth on Me has everlasting life.
There was not a bunch of strings (chains) attached.
When we believe in Jesus He makes all things new, including our hearts, which is impossible for us to do.
We simply come to Jesus just as we are.
Also sometimes we need a pastor or another christian to help us.
Sometimes we need a doctor's help also.
Ocd is a terrible affliction and many times we need help with it.
Are you seeing a doctor or counsellor for help?
Do you have christian friends or relatives to help you?
Doubt and fear really can steal out joy,ocd can steal our joy.
Yet we wait on Jesus.
You will get through this,Jesus is holding onto you
Jesus leads us beside still waters and restores our souls.

Wow Ann you are right on. If you don't stay in the Bible not only will you stray it will be a terrible long road back when God wakes you up. The world and our own knowledge has a way of blinding us to God's truth. His word is like lightning, it pierces the heart, it drops the scales from the eyes, it wakes us up, it cleans us.

2 months ago I was in a terrible place. Absolutely terrible intrusive thoughts, violence, sexual thoughts, combination of both, pretty much everything totally negative. I would think a thought and it would instantly go sour. Also terrible torment in my head over other stuff.

As I am reading God's word I can see how far God has brought me back already, and I am more at peace than I have been in a LONG time. I still struggle through OCD type stuff but as you rest in God's TRUTH you don't really have any reason to worry anymore.

God is truth, EVERYTHING else is a lie. Renew your mind constantly.

But to me I feel like God hates me, that He looks at me in disgust because of my thoughts. I don't know if they are all really, ocd thoughts. I'm anxious all the time but I don't know. I'm sorry for taking over your thread.

TRUST GOD. The thoughts that 'God hates you' are from Satan. He wants to put a distance between you and God. God desires that all men be saved. No man shall come unto Jesus unless the Father draws Him first. Any one who comes to Him JESUS WILL IN NO WISE CAST OUT.

These are the words of the Self-Sustaining One. The great I AM. The Holy One. The all powerful righteous Almighty God of the Universe. Do you think He is lying to you? All our doubts do is say God isn't trustworthy. HE IS. HE DOESN'T LIE. TRUST HIM (not yelling I deal with this too ;0)

Caty,
any thoughts harrassing you against your will must be ocd thoughts.
Any thoughts you wish would stop are not your thoughts they are ocd.
And even if they were your thoughts Jesus died for all sin, nevertheless they are ocd thoughts and not sin.
Jesus forgives people , He died so that His blood would wash us clean .
He saved us while we were still His enemy.
He did not look at us in disgust,He saved us.
In due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Since Jesus died for the ungodly, we know what a wonderful Saviour we have.
How much more do we know He is not counting an ocd affliction against us.
He knows we want the affliction gone.
He understands.
He cares.
It is not being free from ocd that saves us or makes us acceptable.
It is believing in Jesus and cleansed by His blood that saves us.
