  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

pylgrym1,

I think that what chongjasmine is saying is that her Christian friend is persecuted for her faith and has even been in prison for it. She has been released from prison but is still persecuted for her faith everywhere she goes. Am I right chongjasmine?

Our friend chongjasmine lives in Singapore, a country which is hostile to Christians and the Christian faith. Is that right chongjasmine?

No, my friend is Nigeria, and is persecuted for her faith in her village, because she is the only Christian there. But I am not persecuted for my faith at all, because I live in Singapore.

So, yes, my friend has been to prison once because of her faith in the lord, but she has been released, and yet she will still be facing persecutions from the people around her.

So pray for her and for the lord's protection over her.

This is the exact e-mail she sent to me after she is released from prison:
Hello my dear friend in far away SINGAPORE, but close
to me by Gods doing.
The devil struck but always victory is mine, for the
past few days I have been behind bars. On one faithful
evening I returned from work and saw 8 police men
waiting for me showing me a search warrant and
accusing me of child trafficking, before I could utter
a word, one of them gave me a slap and asked me to get
my papers of which I used in registering my kids, I
brought them out still they where not satisfied,
however they took me to the police station and lock me
up behind bars, threatening me, all effort to get me
out by my boss wife and jovita failed, the police here
who are full of corrupt minds demanded huge amount of
money before they could releasing me.
At the first night behind bars I almost fade-up of
being a Christian. I cant help cry and cry.
My God whom I have decided to serve in truth and
spirit and sincerity gave me strength and courage, to
be of a good cheer. That he is with me.

Low and behold yesterday evening about 39 children in
number from within my neighbor came to the police
station in tears and making noise the entire place,
the D.P.O demanded me to be brought in his office
immediately.

He asked me two questions: 1. is there any problem
between me and by boss? 2. Do I want him to deal with
my boss?
And in tears I told him (the D.P.O) no problem between
me and my boss and I told him not to file a case with
him.
He confessed to me how the man my own very boss came
to them with such information accusing me of child
trafficking. He said from the first day I came here,
he knew within himself that I was innocent of the
allegation.

I have work with my boss in honesty and am contended
to my self and am okay with what I have as a salary
from him. I believe and look up to God for provisions
of all my needs. He-my boss has been making advance at
me, a Christian, married. The wife is so close to me
and has a unique love for me and my kids. She gives me
her old clothes. And times without number I have told
him-my boss to stop it, that I dont want her marriage
to break. He keep promising heaven and earth to me,
and hitherto I maintained telling him, it can never
happen. I told him he is not my God, that my God shall
supply all my needs and not through him or when I
sleep with him. I never knew he could be so wicked to
frame me up. He has refused to increase my salary,
while he has increased others yet I didnt border nor
complained one day. Above all I forgive him and those
police men that slapped me. Let God take judge of the
matter. Nigeria is full of corruption, you try to
react they can even kill you for just no reason. If
you try to maintain the law they will eliminate you.

However, one thing I have learnt and would like you to
also hear with me is that.
Finally I was bailed without a charge which is rare
her, the police team dropped me.
Thats the power of GRACE AND GODS COVENANT UPON OUR
LIVES.
He gave me Ephesians 2:5-9 and Romans 8:37-39, Romans
916. psalm 23:4.

I have to run now get back to you tomorrow; I have
teachings with children this evening. Let me Run, they
should be waiting now.
All my prayers
Sincerely Gina. Also thank you very much for your
prayers to God for me.

Genesis 39:7-21 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; there is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out. And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth, that she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice: And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out. And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home. And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me: And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out. And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled. And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

Gensis 50:20-21 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. 2So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children." And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.

Psalm 18:1-3 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Psalm 35:1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

Psalm 91:14-16 Because [she] hath set [her] love upon Me, therefore will I deliver [her]: I will set [her] on high, because [her] hath known My name. [She] shall call upon Me, and I will answer [her]: I will be with [her] in trouble; I will deliver [her], and honour [her]. With long life will I satisfy [her], and shew [her] My salvation.

Psalm 144:1-2 Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Acts 5:41-42 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Acts 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

chongjasmine, I've got friends from Nigeria and learning from them, the northern region of Nigeria are muslims and the southern region are Christians. I'm not sure which part of Nigeria your friend, Gina is from. So far, none of my Nigerian friends whom are Christians (one of them happen to attend Bible College when he was in Penang) had come across with persecution of such nature as you've described. However, I believe that all things do happen. Perhaps, you can send me via P.M. so that I could send you my friend's e-mail addresses for your friend to be referred to where she might be able to help her?

I'll be praying for your friend....

I too have a friend from Nigeria.

Muslims in Nigeria still practice polygamy.

Do you know which people group/tribe your friend is from?

The four major peoples are the Ibo, Hausa, Falani and Yoruba
My friend is from Cross River State - Yala people.
They interact with the Ibo. The Ibo are in the South.

Praying for your friend.

I have Nigerian friends too, mainly Yoruba and Ibu. Moslems are trying to take over all the country by war and kill off Christians and anyone else who does not comply with their laws. Islamic religious war for the purpose of forcing conversion is evil and of Satan. God never uses war to force conversion.

We in the west should defend the innocent. I praise President Bush for his courage in other parts of the world. This war in Nigeria is yet another terrorist war like that in Sudan and that in NYC on 9-11-01. God bless our Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria. All we can do for now is pray and give humanitarian aid... for now. But if God is a God of Justice, He will send an avenger to punish murderers. Pray for God to turn this evil into His good. I believe He already has started.

She is not persecuted because of the Muslims but she is persecuted because she follows the bible, and helps the women who are abandoned by their husbands and give to the poor and that offends some of the people in her village. Also, she starts a small church there consisting of mainly women and she ministers to the children.

She has not been corresponding with me for quite a while, and I figure it is because she does not have easy internet access in her region.

Do you know what town she's in? There may surely be believers near her. Why not contact a Bible-believing church nearby and ask them to look in on her? They may also be able to help with food and expenses and network people to help her ministry.

It seems that for those of us who take the bible literally there is a persecution
building towards us. It is very sad,but if you look at many of the christian forums
they are even spreading the hate around towards literal bible believers.
Some say that if you take the book of Genesis literally that it's dangerous to
the Christian faith, and some are saying that you cannot take the book of Rev.
literally because it appears to put down the Roman church.
