Great to hear feeling somewhat better about things. I think your definitely moving in the right direction.

I use the Message Bible. It is translated into every day language. Way easier to understand the KJV, though I like it too. Then in Seminary School we use the NIV. I find it also is very easy to read. You can find a brief summary of some of the best Bibles for beginners at WHOISJESUS4REAL.COM. In the Bible Basics Sections. I hope that helps! Ryan

Thank you all seriously you all have helped a lot. I trust god I guess thats y I ask for his protection or help when I need it I just want a closer relationship. More or less like the prophets in the bible did. I want to feel him more. Honestly I was under the perception that since I was a christian I should be understanding and less angry and id try so hard not to do things wrong or be angry over something that when I did do that I was like well im not a good person I keep doing thngs that God would not agree of and I would really get down on myself and quit trying. But honestly though I want to feel him so bad like hes sitting beside me or have a dream with him just sitting with me. I obviously do have doubts about somethings I was taught I want the doubts I have to disappear. Also what is the best bible to read ive had a little difficulty reading kjv anything close to that but a little easier to read

I use NIV (new international version), which is pretty easy to read and quite accurate in my opinion.

+1 for the online resources, to get a feel for different translations, including modern ones. If you want something like KJV you can use either NKJV (New King James) or ESV, (English Standard) and those are good. Something from "the other column" helps too, meaning translated more on a thought-for-thought basis rather than word for word, since word-for-word comes up short so often when translating from either Greek or Hebrew into English. Someone mentioned The Message (MSG) and that's good in places, but not for the Gospels. Someone mentioned an online resource, another is Biblegateway.com and they have that one as well as GW (God's Word) and NLT (New Living Translation) and I think YLT too (Young's Literal Translation)

Best bet is to read a bit of each, in a section that really "speaks" to you, pick a favorite, and stick with that. When you run into a spot that gives you trouble, read that section in a version from "the other category," and if needed also from a few more until its no longer giving you trouble. (And then bring that question to your Pastor ;)

Every bit as important, is to be honest with your family about your intents with this! It's good to admit you're not perfect, but 'the family that prays together, stays together.' And make sure they know this is why you want to find a good Church. :groupray:
