If you're single, have you ever had that feeling when you see a girl or had a glimpse of a girl and something in your mind tells you that maybe you should go talk to her? I sometimes ask God to direct me to my future wife and reserve her for me only. How can I know when to talk to that special someone or any girl in particular? I'm mainly to myself most of the time but I do have a lot of friend girls, but they mostly have b/f's already. My strategy is to just be friends with girl and get to know them before I ask them out. Any godly council?

Godly council? Erm....just ask for her phone number after chatting to her for a bit....if you like how she looks and sounds, cus you really might not have the time and opportunity to become "friends first" with her.

I disagree. Why wouldnt you have the opportunity to be friends first??? I'm a huge fan of the friends first, get to know her. Dont be afraid that you'll miss an opportunity, rather just trust God. You wont miss His plan for your life. If you go looking, you probably wont find her. If you simply focus on God and becoming a Godly man, you might find that she will just appear at the right time. My Godly advice... rely on God, not on yourself. Wait on His timing, its way better than yours. I know that one from experience

He sees a nice girl at the supermarket...he does not know her....how on earth can he become friends with her if he never sees her again?

He ruddy chats her up and asks for her number, that's what he does!

Jeez! :doh:It's not rocket science.

WAIT ON THE LORD? Oh yes, that's right, the Lord will miraculously arrange for him to meet her again and again in chance meetings where they slowly develop a deep and meaningful friendship...yeah....yeah

Be patience..I know that may be hard at times..

You can't expect to win a girl's heart overnight either, and there isn't no right or wrong way in life towards finding your future mate in life. Trust in the Lord and put him first, then when you least expect it BAM a lovely woman will cross your path one day and the rest is history and so on. Must I further continue, nah.

Trust in Him because His timing is always on time!!

There is my 2 cents for ya mate..

Regards,
Drew

Be persistent and keep a thick skin. If you like a girl, ask her out quickly, and if she turns you down, move onto the next one. Don't take it personally, and don't pursue a girl at a distance or just be friends with her because you want that friendship to develop into a relationship.

In my experience, the closest representation I've ever seen on TV of what a guy who isn't Brad Pitt has to do to get a date is an episode I saw a while ago of "King of the Hill," in which Boomhauer shows Bobby his secret to picking up women: they go to a shopping mall, and for the rest of the episode, Boomhauer asks every attractive woman he sees if she wants to go out with him on a date. He gets rejected almost every time, but finally, one woman smiles and says, "Sure!" And that one "Sure!" is all that really counts.:)

Why would any guy want a random woman who says yes to his advances?

Well I talk with just about anyone that crosses my path. So I'm not afraid of not talking to her.

I'm more afraid of being overly cautious or not recognizing that she is the one I want or need before its too late.

Haha! Boomhauer is hilarious.

That's good stuff, Luther. +3 brownie points to you.

Because he has different priorities from yours. But you're missing my point - the reason why Boomhauer wins in the end is because he doesn't let a single rejection hurt him or discourage him or get to him in any way; he persists, and eventually, he gets a girl to go out with him, and that makes all of the previous rejections pretty much irrelevant.

I agree with most this stuff.. if you chat it up with a girl and you think she is cool.. tell her. "Hey, this has been fun, maybe we can get together for some coffee or something sometime again?" "Okay." "Great, can I get your phone number? I'll give you a call and we can set up some time to meet." :D

Yeah I've had the same problem as well. I've had the same feeling of "should I go talk to that guy?" I'm shy when it comes to going up to a random stranger and finding something to talk about.
All I know is that I've realized that if God has someone for you, he will stick them wherever you are in the moment he wants you to meet them.

I stopped believing in strategy when I realized that most people use strategy to get in bed with a woman. I also used to believe that God would just drop my future wife in my lap. Now, I go through my life's daily routine, and if I happen to meet someone who seems interesting, I befriend them. From there, if I find I have feelings for them, I am unfortunately open and honest to a fault.

So until someone comes along who isn't scared by complete honesty and openness, I'm SOL (Shucks Outta Luck, for me). I just keep praying that one day she'll come along, and it'll be plain as day.

I don't know if that helps much.

But... the OP is only 22. There's still time. (You probably want your future wife to be someone you chose, someone for whom you needed maturity to get... not someone God easily matchmakes for you. Because if God does magic matchmake stuff, and times get hard, you might be tempted to say "but this was God's will, it was supposed to all work out", instead of "I chose her, I'll stick to my choice, and I know God will bless that." I don't know if you see what I mean...)

In my relationship, I know that God set the paths for my girl and I to eventually cross. I also know that if I never IMed her or made the first move, there's a very good chance that a relationship would never have happened. So God did it, but I did it as well. If that would have happened, then that doesn't mean she wasn't the right girl - that just means I didn't make a move.

And there's not only one girl/guy that God brings into our lives. If we blow it and miss the first chance, are we screwed forever? God doesn't bring others into our life at a later date? That's completely the opposite of how God tends to do things (giving us many chances, rather than just one chance)

Good points! Especially for someone who has marriage in the near future! Congratulations!
