How should a christan take this

What about cremation?[bless and do not curse] The Bible does mention it.[bless and do not curse] In Joshua 7, Joshua proclaimed that whoever was found with the dedicated items stolen from Jericho “shall be destroyed by fire, along with all that belongs to him” (7:15).[bless and do not curse] When it was discerned that a man named Achan was the guilty party, the Israelites stoned and cremated his entire household, including his animal livestock (v. 25).[bless and do not curse] Leviticus 20:14 calls for the burning of a man who marries a woman and her mother.[bless and do not curse] The same was true for any priest’s daughter who became a prostitute (Lev. 21:9).[bless and do not curse] There are other examples, but you get the picture.[bless and do not curse] Burning of human remains spoke of judgment on sin, which also will be, the Bible says, by fire.

The Church, for most of it's history, had seen cremation as outright sacrilegious because burial is the proper consecration of a deceased person.

Today, however, it's still for the most part frowned upon, but is no longer considered as bad as it was once thought to be.

I know that since the 20th century cremation has become a common place for the disposal of bodies even within Christianity. My family are fairly hard core bible beaters. The whole 9 yards and to my surprise they wished to be cremated. I figured they would be the last ones to want that. Even if their is a smallest possibility of not being resurrected they would avoid the practice. They said that more people are doing it which also surprised me. As they have never been one to "go along with the crowd" you could say. More and more Christians are coming to terms with homosexuality which my family is greatly opposed to. To the point they were convinced Obama was pure evil. I just don't understand there thoughts. Frankly I don't really care. If they want to be cremated it would save me trouble and money. But I was just wondering what other Christians believe. I am under the impression that most denominations accept the practice, but many still discourage it. I do not doubt if God could resurrect someone who was cremated. To me it is more would he when it comes to what God can and cannot do. What are your beliefs?
There is nothing holy about our physical biological bodies. It is our souls that God loves.

Perhaps you'd be happier with Greek Gnosticism. The biblical Judeo-Christian affirmation is firmly that the physical creation is good, and that we are firmly physical creatures.
