I think that every person is different. You may want to read just a little at a time or if you pay more attention to DVD's then do it that way. You may just want to ask the Holy Spirit to help you stay focused as you read or if you listen to the Bible on CD. You may even see what is out there as far as question booklets so that you can answer questions as you read or listen. (I don't know if that would help or not)

My husband is ADD and is better at reading than listening, so I think it differs for everyone who suffers from ADD. I hope that you find what you are looking for.

Hi Mike,

You keep on telling yourself you have ADD then you will have it. Be positive!

I'm 70 and I suffer from AAADD (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder) (Joking) and I have the same problem. Lately I have been forcing myself to read.

You can play CD etc, but I would go to sleep.

Try reading your Bible first thing in the morning, by getting up a little bit earlier before going to work, or soon as you come home.

Everybody is different.

I am sorry be we must always remember that whatever words we speak over ourselves is what we will be.

Your disorder covers many aspects of life from physical, emotional, and spiritual. You are a Christian, and you are special to our Lord Jesus Christ, and your walk is spiritual. See if you can pull yourself over the hump that is in your path on your road to recovery, healing, success in your race of endurance.

Christian walk isn't easy, but when your faith soars, and you are able to overcome and conquer those hurdles that Satan put in your path, then nothing can stop you. Be blessed, in Jesus' Name.

Mike, it's absolutely true what Elijah says: we do become what we think and say. So the 'trick' is to think and say 'God' things. Positive things. Many years ago when my ill-health was life-threatening I made these decisions:

• That I would stay positive at all times
• That I would be happy, and not let myself get down and sad
• That I would fight and never quit

That I'm still here writing and ministering to others fulltime at the age of 68 is testimony to the efficacy of the above.

Of course they are NOT the whole story. The rest of it is all the SPIRITUAL things I've done to learn and grow and become who I am today in Jesus.

Bless you as you figure out which of the advice here to take that you may do so much better with Him!

Elijah, in the 5 or 6 different forums God's taken me to for ministry in recent time, I've ALWAYS been the Granddad there.

Umm, are you absolutely CERTAIN you're 70? Meaning that I've been pushed down to 2nd place?! Ahhhhhhhhh! No fair! *chokes back a tear* lol

Hi Bondman, don't worry once you pass the "use by" date, life begins to slide. But, boy is there a lot of experience in reaching that slide. Only another ten to go, or maybe twenty. Oh well, our Lord Jesus Christ knows!

PS: Can you tell me how to post those attachments to the site. This 70 year-old has no idea?

start with Mathew 5 blessed is the poor in spirit for his is the kingdom of heaven and focus on the memorization of it through out the day write it on a piece of paper and put in your pocket and pull it out when you forget. and narrator of the bible MAX MCLEAN play it over and over and the copy it down on paper. Then discuss it in a study group

Thank you all for your advice it has really made an impact on my mind its gonna be tough a road ahead of me but with jesus helping me along the way and these great fourms i cant fail. God bless you all

Wow, that's great, Mike!

Yes, the road can be tough. But then is anything WORTHWHILE in life every easy?

Our life is incredibly tough each and every day, but absolutely, as you said, the Lord Jesus is ALWAYS with you cos that's what He promised, so you CAN make it. And keep using the forum and let people support you and pray for you.

Matthew 28:20 Jesus said: "And behold, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, even to the end of the age!"

Now THAT I can handle!!!

Blessings, man!

I'm not worried about my 'used by' date, just about you being 2 years ahead of me! I'm having a ball with all of my life. Hitting 60 was fantastic - when it suddenly dawned on me that I actually had wisdom, knowledge and experience, enough to talk to and help most anyone, at least to some degree. THAT was exciting, and while it came via the passage of 'water under the bridge' (no substitute for that!) I honour my beautiful Master for ALL that He's done in me these many years!

Oh do you mean the Avatar of me and my Lady and the graphic of Froggy?

Froggy was actually a bit of a pain in the proverbial to get him and the words above to behave properly! But I'm still not an expert on this particular forum by any means - still things I've yet to figure out, so I'm gonna dob joyshirley in cos she helped me a PILE when I first arrived.

You've got enough blessings to build a whacking great CASTLE with 'em! I trust js will forgive me! - send her a pm at joyshirley.christianforums.com and I reckon she'll help if she can.

Have a good Tuesday, mate!

When I wanted the same thing you wanted, I prayed and asked the Lord to write his Word inside of me.

I have a difficult time remembering what I read- even as I am reading it, lol. And because of this I have a difficult time getting anything from it. So that was why I asked God to write it inside of me. That way I wouldnt forget his wonderful words.

Then later I found that what I had asked for was scripturally sound, so here is the verse for ya:

But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Jeremiah 31:33

God Bless

Wow, Mike, you wouldn't believe how excited I got reading your post! God has met with you and you're off and running. Man, that's SO wonderful!

The other thing is that I've been on a lot of forums and people ask questions all the time, and many come and give answers - but many times you never hear a word back from the OP. So you are rather unusual, in my experience anyway, and that's great!

Walk with Him, trust Him, learn His truths, accept His love into your life, learn to love Him and others with that love. And you will be blessed indeed!

Once again this is such wonderful news, Mike! God bless you, my friend! And make sure that you KEEP GOING, and really get connected with the Lord - knowing with certainty that He is with you always, and actually dwelling (abiding) in you! Isn't that fantastic. It's true, so just believe it.

And this is amazing, cos you are one of the few I've seen on the forums I've been on who actually chose to grab a hold of the Lord - and is managing to follow through with this. Wow!!

Thankyou for Mike, Lord. Continue to open His eyes so he can see YOU in the words of Your Book. You love him SO much! By your Spirit reveal to him what You are saying as he reads. And please bless this Brother of mine more and more with every passing day.

Lotsa love from us both, Mike!

Mike:

If you have not already gotten started, try starting out in the Gospel of John. For many, it is the easiest and most meaningful.

I agree about John. I've always loved this book. It's different from the other 3 Gospels (but then they're all different anyway!)

I've also read that Luke is the book to start with, as it contains the the Gospel v. clearly.

And Mike, when you feel ready to branch out to other parts of the New Testament, Ephesians is one of my favourites. It says some quite wonderful things, without being too difficult to understand. I find myself coming back to it many times - and loving it all over again.

Love to all!
